Okay, but your hypothetical situaition hinges on T-Wolves wanting "Kanter", but the Wolves(Kahn) are/is really high on Milicic and Pekovic, that I don't think his going to waste a 2nd overall pick on a position that he feels he doesn't need. Plus Kanter is the type of center that needs an athletic 4 next to him, to make up for some of his lack of athleticism and Kevin Love isn't that. If you look at Minny's roster, their biggest need is at SG, and Martin would fit perfectly with that roster.
I see your point. And it makes a lot of sense. I just don't see Minny giving up the #2 for Kevin Martin and his $30 million or whatever it is that he is owed. I could see a deal something like Scola to Philly, Iggy to Minny, and Dragic and the #14 to Minny for #2. So, #2 essentially costs us Scola/Dragic/14. You could mix and match whatever but Scola and #14 may be able to net us the #2 by doing a 3-way deal of some sort if Minny wants a vet SG.
Didnt see it posted- [rquoter]Scott Howard-Cooper: Mock Draft 2011 This is what he had for the Rockets Picks the rest of the mock draftees are found here[/rquoter]
Kevin Martin + #38 to Minnesota for #2 and draft Derrick Williams (only if he's projected as a SF). Or Kevin Martin to Cleveland straight up for #4 and draft Jan Vesely. Either one works for me, but I'd rather do the Cleveland deal, get Vesely, and keep #38. With #14 draft whoever is available out of Biyombo, Donatas, Burks, Jonas *crosses fingers*, Tobias Harris, that defensive SF (Singleton or something?), or Bebe. With #23, draft either Bebe, Bertans, or Marshon. With #38 draft either Jeremy Tyler, Honeycutt (if available), or even Giorgi Shermadini. There's another foreign big projected in the 2nd round, just can't remember his name. This is my fantasy draft. Hopefully it happens this way. Any thoughts, comments, or disagreements?
Man I am not hating on you, but man that was a baaaaaaad post. So Minny doesn´t want KM and his 30M contract, but they would want Iggy and his 44M contract???? And Philly would add another old PF with a sizable contract to Brand and his ugly one??? People underrate KM so much, I bet with y´all, DM will only trade Kevin Martin for the 2nd pick if....... 1 - Derrick Williams shows he is a 3 in the NBA, and is working on it and improving his perimeter game to go along his low post game that can be his bread and butter mismatch against opposing 3s (at the 4 in the NBA level, he will not be anything special) AND 2 - By adding dragic (anyone besides Lowry), or another draft pick, we get Ricky Rubio rights, I think this is guaranteed but I know alot of people don´t agree, I just don´t see Rubio on a Minny uniform. Kanter is not a 2nd pick IMO, you will not get an inside presence defensively. He reminds me so much of Brook Lopez, of course, I know Brook has an extremely polished back to the basket game, Kanter is "just" good at it but better jump shooter and more range, but were I think those 2 are very similar is in the Defensive side of the ball. They simply don´t impact the game, like someone of that size should. You see Chandler (example), ignore the blocked shots, this guy impacts the game by being an active big body, contesting, going for lose balls, just making his presence felt. For me, big dudes that can´t impact on D, are not true centers, they are 4s that need athletic 5s next to them, that is why I say that the perfect team for Kanter is the Wiz, with javale next to him. This wall about Kanter was just to say that IMO KI and DW (talent wise and guarantee performance) are head and shoulders above all in this years draft. So... does DM think that Derrick Williams at the 3 can be special??? (if we are going young) "If we draft Kanter, do we really get closer to trade for D12???" (if we still are going after stars) This will not depend on Kahn, If Morey today said: "we trade KM, dragic plus #14 pick for Rubio and #2 pick" Kahn would not be able to sleep tonight......IMO PeAcE
Now even Singleton looks to be out of our reach with 14th pick. We have no use for the 14th pick this time. Noguiera might move up to mid teens but he is being projected early 20s atm. But if he moves up to late teens then we are screwed with the 23rd pick too.
How is Cris Singleton, currently slotted at #20, all of a sudden out of our reach just because we are picking at #14 again?
He is moving up man. Chad Fords latest mock has him at 12, latest hoopsworld mock has him at 13. I can see him staying around there or even going higher.
Things could get very interesting on draft night, specially if the Raptors select Kemba Walker with the 5th pick (which rumors are that they are leaning that way) and Utah selects Brandon Knight with the 3rd pick. Making the Sacramento pick at 7th, available, with all the elite PG prospects gone. In which case we could come in and offer up our young talented back-up who would be an immediate upgrade over the Kings current PG crop, and who is a capable starter in this league. He was also coveted by the Kings at the deadline, so maybe we can come to an agreement. --- Sacramento Receives: PG Goran Dragic, 14th pick(Tobias Harris), PF/C Jordan Hill, 38th pick(Jeremy Tyler) Rockets Receive: 7th pick(Bismack Biyombo), SF Omar Casspi, C Hassan Whiteside. (Use the 23rd pick to pick up a back up PG: Josh Selby, Darius Morris or Reggie Jackson) --- There's was also some conflict between Casspi and Management, so we could take him off their hands in my trade proposal.
I think you need to look in the GARM. A lot of people think this is possible. Minnesota is open to trading the 2nd pick for a veteran presence. Minnesota's biggest need is a shooting guard (Kevin Martin). He plays well off the ball (which you need for Beasley, Love, and Wes Johnson), and he is a high scorer off of low volume shooting. Name another shooting guard that fits their team like that, that is available. Don't take it the wrong way, I'm just trying to show you that in a "weak draft" Kevin Martin + an early 2nd is definitely worth #2 overall.
Take out #38 (Jeremy Tyler) and Hassan Whiteside from the deal, and I would love it. I think #23 instead of #14 would still get it done, just because the Kings NEED a PG, and the one we would be trading ended the season with a triple double. I might be reaching, or maybe I have my homer glasses on, but I think the deal could be done with the 23rd instead of the 14th.
Barring any trades, My personal preferences would be: #14 C. Singleton or either of the Morris twins #23 Lucas Nogueira or Jordan Williams #38 Cory Joseph or Scotty Hopson
If we can't move up, I'd rather trade 14 for a pick in next year's draft and a 2nd rounder this year, draft Justin Harper at 23 late in the first, Jordan WIlliams or Keith Benson in the early 2nd with the acquired 2nd rounder, and Jimmy Butler with the pick at 38.
I like your choices, but I think I would go with Tobias Harris or Tristan Thompson if we stay with the 14th pick.
