Dirk's a great player, and he does it while remaining humble. I'd like to see him win a championship and get the respect he deserves as one of the all-time greats.

This game was crappy for the same reason the ECF game was awesome: the referrees.

Bulls vs Heat was called just right. Refs swallowed their whistles and let the players play. When the dust settled, the men came out on top.

Mavs vs Thunder was a total joke. Refs whistled four fouls in the first minute and a half. Dirk gets 24 free throws? Ridiculous. He only drove to the basket once. No jump shooter gets that much contact. The dust was never stirred up, so the ladies with the cleanest petticoats won.

 

Dirk earned my respect against the Suns in the WCFs in 06. He was awesome, including a 50-point game.

Tonight, there was no way in the world he should have shot 24 FTs. OKC fouled him so many times on jumpers it was crazy. I don't blame the refs for most of the calls. It was dumb defense.

WB has to bounce back because he was just terrible. I don't think Dirk has another 40-point game in him on Thursday. But OKC has to guard him differently in game 2 and mix things up. Some possessions, they should crowd him and add a help defender the instant he starts dribbling.

 

And p.s. the way the media is riding Dirk's nuts is getting really annoying. Evidently, he is a better shooter than MJ and a better big man than Dream.

ClutchFans is a great board, but I see many a posters making derogatory comments regarding this player and that player, this team, and that team, and meanwhile our own team has been in mediocrity hell for 15+ years.

 

I'm still baffled that this became a somewhat close game w/ dirk and joey going off. (doubly shocked that Barea was -2 for the game.)

Isn't Durant a jumpshooter? He got nearly the same amount of free throws. The last few Dirk got were intentional.

I would have to think about individual performances. Hard to rank them on the spot plus I'm only 22, but this was an amazing and great performance to watch tonight.

It's like nobody even notices that Durant had 40 and was also efficient because of what Dirk did.
