I guess it doesn't matter who the Astros throw out there in the closers role.

I'd almost prefer getting shelled than this torture.

5 for 16 in save opportunities. Let's try to go for history like the Texans' D did!

Don't win a lot of games scoring a single run.

Yes, but on the flipside, winning teams need to be able to win 1-0 or 2-1 games as well.

Now clearly, this isn't a "winning team", and they have much more pressing needs than the bullpen right now... but I hate that excuse when a team blows a game they didn't score many runs in.

Also, Wandy trade watch starts now. He's not going to be good by the time this team gets good. Don't make the same mistake they made with Myers.

Some days, you make all the right decisions and still lose.

    1) Putting Bogusevic in to replace Lee in LF with a 1-0 lead
    2) Melancon pitching the 9th
    3) Fulchino in the xtra innings

What else could Mills have done?

What? Give him a short length contract? They already did that.

not really. they'd literally be writing off any future seasons before they even begin until that gets addressed. if our bullpen was good, we'd have a competitive record.

guarantee you that crane will not go into next season without a passable bullpen at minimum.

Even the biggest optimist, like myself, has to have felt that punch to the junk. Bullpen is beyond horrible and now even the guys who are actually good, blow it today.

Not sure what else the team can do but try moving Wandy and Myers along with anyone else that can bring back any young talent. Crane will spend in development and drafting a stud at the draft would be a nice start.

I'm thankful it was a day game and I didn't see it.

Now that you mention it...I do kind of feel like putting my fist through a wall.

It's a long way to the future for this team. Fast forward already!

Obviously to win, the offense needs to score more run than the defense allows. For any win or loss, the blame falls on both shoulders.

He could have gotten a couple RBI's and thrown a perfect 9th. Manager fail.

I agree on trading Wandy, but I don't think it's at all the same situation as Myers. With Myers, they paid based on a career year that all indications suggested was sort of fluky. Wandy's been pretty consistently good for several years now, and as a soft-tossing lefty, he potentially has many good years left in him. I think you trade Wandy because you can get a real return for him rather than because you think he's going to go downhill soon.
