It was pretty much a perfect game by Rob. It wasn't just the girls he controlled, he controlled everyone in the Ometepe six and was never in any serious danger of getting voted off.

To say he was taught by Russell, just isn't true. He has been around on Survivor way longer than Russell, and his game is more all around than Russells. Russell doesn't work in camp the way Rob does. Rob helped build the shelter early on and bonded with his other tribemates. Russell didn't bond with his tribemates when he got to Zapetera. He just fell back on his old strategy of making an alliance with two girls.

Rob took his game and he improved on it. When he played Heroes vs. Villians he didn't know how to use the hidden immunity idol, because they didn't have it when he last played. This time he made sure to get the idol, and then kept looking for the clues, so no one else would realize someone already had it.

He also is much better in front of the Jury than Russell. He brought the perfect two people with him to the final 3. Natalie and Phillip's arguments were to point out that their main strategy was being loyal to Rob!

He was focused on winning the game, and you could tell he was doing everything in his power to do so.

umm... rob did all those things, minus the idol part (since they didnt have them) in survivor all stars, WAY before Russell ever even played survivor. In that season, Rob aligned with amber, whos now his wife.... and when she was in danger and he did not have the numbers, he managed to save her by getting lex from another alliance to do it. Afterwards they voted out Lex and Rob rode his alliance with amber all the way to the end... which was a final 2.

Aside from doing it first, Rob also does it better, unlike Russel, Rob wasnt an ******* to everyone and didnt make them hate him to the point they wouldnt vote for him. The object of the game isnt just to survive the longest, its to get the people you've outlast, to VOTE FOR YOU. Russel clearly doesnt understand that portion of it as in every season he's been on, he's managed to make the majority of the players dislike him to the point of not wanting to reward him.

Rob's performance was truly outstanding, though he did get lucky with the younger more naive tribe. Its probably one of the top 4 performances in my book, along with Parvati in heroes vs villians (even tho she got didn't win), Yul in cook island, tom westman from Palau and of course richard hatch

Have to agree with you, Rob's game here was just masterful, he had control of that tribe and his plan played out perfectly. As soon as he won immunity he was set. Natalie was insanely naive and Phil was just insane.

I agree fully on what you said, 100%

As a long time survivor fan, it's laughable to say Rob copied Russel's game. Rob took his all-star game, added an immunity idol, mixed in a bunch of amateurs, and won the damn thing effortlessly.

And what you said about Yul and Parvati, again, 100% agree. Yul took his cook islands' 4 and nerd stomped all the way to the end, that was one of the best season's of survivor known to date imho. Parvati is a mastermind and orchestrated an all female alliance to overthrow Ozzy, one of the ballsiest things to do ever.

    Bravo Rob, you deserve it!

Russell's two season's trumped anything rob done. To say he didn't take away alot from russell's game is bs. Russell turned the game on its head and anybody that's honest realizes the debt paid to russell hantz.

The social part of the game is another fallacy of an argument, because I can argue that Russell was the most loyal player to anybody he was truly aligned with. Rob was far more ruthless than russell was as far as backstabbing. So it is a double edged sword, russell would have never gotten the votes that rob got last night because he is russell hantz and nothing more.

Maybe it is because russell is too egotistical with what he does. Rob is more cool-headed.

I just don't see Rob's game as copying Russells. He played the same game that he always has but he just incorporated some new wrinkles. He got in broad alliance at the beginning of the game, where Russell went with a small tight alliance. If you go back and look at Survivor: All Stars and Heroes vs. Villains he did the same thing.

This time, he didn't make the mistake of overlooking the power of the hidden immunity idol. Which was his downfall in Heroes vs. Villains (and the fact that Tyson was dumb for changing his vote to Parvati and getting himself voted off.)

I never followed Survivor, so I'm kind of confused.

Season 22? That doesn't sound right...

Great season by Rob....seemed easy, but he deserves props for busting his butt during the challenges as well.....Although it was fun to watch him pick people off, the competitiveness sucked and I never once though he wouldn't win. Hopefully they'll do a better job of picking contestants next season, or at least in how they pair them up.

anyone else get super annoyed with the people that are claim rob/russell/anyone who makes it to the final 2/3 as evil, conniving, liars....Memo to the people on the jury you have to backstab and lie it is the only way to win the game you will have to vote off someone on your alliance the reason they dont understand is because they never made it far enough into the game to realize you have to play dirty to win, I was so relieved the lawyer stood up up for rob and said his game was brilliant instead of complaining about ethics like the firefighter lady(who ironically hid philip's shorts in the sand yet calls out a 19 year old girl for being ethically wrong)

they're just bitter, it's understandable... Grant, firefighter lady, Ashley... all bitter

Rob whispered to Natalie, "it'll be all smiles later"

a lot of people haven't won survivor because the jury is full of bitter, butt-hurt babies... Russell's first season, and Rob's all star run did not finish with a win are prime examples

This is the first season of survivor I've ever watched and I really liked it. Being a noob I didn't have any idea how they determined a winner until the last few episodes. While I think the jury system is unique, I was surprised by how anti-clamatic and petty it was.

At least they got it right, Rob put a whippin' on those b****es.

I don't think grant was bitter about losing, but rather Rob's remarks during interviews. Remember Rob said they stayed in touch and all of a sudden Grant stopped calling him back once the show started airing. I think Grant did a poor job of explaining why when he talked about where does one draw the line, but it sounds like he's saying he gets rob has to be someone he's not to make moves and win, but it seemed like he was still being that guy during the interviews (calling them idiots and other things). In other words, he didn't drop the act when he was away from everyone else and didn't need it, so grant says you have to wonder if that's the real Rob afterall.

A&E Orders House-Flipping Series With 'Survivor' Star Russell Hantz

A&E announced today that it has ordered seven one-hour episodes of Flipped, which stars former Survivor bad guy Russell Hantz and his family around Houston as they attempt to buy houses at low prices, renovate and sell for a profit. The series is set to air later this year. “House flipping is back, and the stakes have been elevated,” said David McKillop, EVP Programming at A&E Network and BIO Channel. “Known as the entrepreneur on Survivor,*Hantz’s life as a house flipper is truly outrageous, real and genuine, which fits in nicely with our lineup of non-scripted original series.” Flipped is produced for A&E Network by Departure Films. Max Weissman, Matt Levine and Tim Robbins serve as executive producers for Departure; McKillop, Elaine Frontain-Bryant and Jessica Morgan exec produce for A&E.
