OK folks, we finally might move to Cali soon, just wanted to get some feed back on some stuff.

    1. What the best to get, cable or dish)? And which company provides the best value for most channels and NBA League pass.

    2. I'm from Guam and we don't lease cars here, what's the difference between leasing and buying? Which one is better?

Pretty sure I'll have more questions later.

    Thanks in advance.

Most of us live in Houston or neighboring cities around Houston...

When we lease, it usually means you drive a BMW and live in Dallas.

Lease think of it as a 3-5 year rental.

Car is up front down paid, with generally lower monthly costs until the 3-5 years is up then you turn the car back in or you can buy it for a lowered value. There are also mileage restrictions etc placed on the term-lease.

Be careful...it might be better of to purchase. Youre still accountable to any damage etc.

With a lot of cars, and how fast they depreciate, it's likely to be better to lease if you switch out cars every few years. Most cars are still upside down after three years of ownership unless you put down a large down payment and don't get any warranties/other products (first two years on a 5 or 6 year loan is skewed toward interest).

Now I bought my car with the full intention of driving it at least 5+ years. I also put down a decent down payment so I'll probably have it paid off when I expect to trade it in. My car also has decent residual values the last few years (Scion) so it doesn't depreciate as fast and also makes buying worth it a little more.

Also, people poke fun, but for cars like a BMW, where you don't really want to drive one more than 4 years old (I heard they start to break down), it actually makes a lot of sense to lease since you probably would owe more on the car then it's worth when you're trading it in after three years when buying.

    1) I've always understood Dish Network to be the cheapest option available: satellite is cheaper than cable, and Dish is cheaper than DirecTV.

    2) If you're driving for work, like a realtor or some other local travel-intensive profession, I believe leasing is a better option because you can deduct most of your auto-expenses. Otherwise, I've never felt any compelling reason to lease; if I have to skip town or decide to move (as I just did in the last three weeks) it seems logical to have a car. I also tend to be fairly lethargic about repairs and couldn't give a rats ass about body damage, so owning kind of saves me that extra accountability. If you want/need a nicer car, leasing might be the way to go, also I guess theoretically since a car depreciates in value, it might be wiser to lease it than own it.

Is satellite stable and is the quality comparable to Cable? Same goes for HD shows?

Its fine. Satellite stability is way better than it used to be. Unless its raining really hard, you wont notice a difference. And you'll get all the HD channels that you want on satellite.

Your options are basically Satellite, Cable or a fiber optic connection (AT&T Uverse, Verizon FIOS, etc..) Although Uverse isn't true fiber optics but close enough.

It's easy enough to research all of them yourself and compare prices. You'll generally only have 1 cable operater where you live so find out that name. The two main satellite services are Dish and Directv so check those prices out. And the fiber optic options are AT&T UVerse and Verizon FIOS but there might be more that I dont know about.

If you want to bundle services then the satellite options are out since they dont have internet options to my knowledge.
