I was about to open one up a few months back with a friend but it seems like such a fad business right now. Also Houstons regulations of food trucks really make it hard to do REAL business (Downtown and Med Center are off limits to propane) also regulations on idiling and generators make it difficult too. I will def check this out as I had made friends with some of the vendors that will be there...good people and I wish them well...just couldnt see myself plunging 150k into something that is hamstrung and overly competitive.
Check out http://www.phamilybites.com/ outside Glitter Karaoke Midtown, or on Washington. Had the Bo Luc Lac with a fried egg on top - super taste...a little messy...but absolutely perfect late night food
Went there for a little bit. I was helping a friend out so didn't get a chance to try anything though.
Congratulations for doing nothing to refute my original statement. I could hear the music from across the street, and it sounded awful.
It's kinda silly to judge a food festival on the music and saying it's stupid. It's like judging a basketball tournament based on the concession stand food. You are missing the whole point of the food festival, if you are judging them based on the music.
This was awful. We waited a 1/2 hour to buy tickets, and right when we were about to purchase them, we overheard one of the organizers telling a volunteer that the lines at the trucks were out of control. We left, and on our way out we could see lines at the trucks 20, 30 people deep.
I was there for close to 3 hours, didn't even realize they had music there. The food was awesome. I live close by, I'm gonna come out and smash yalls basketball if you don't apologize.
They need to do this on a regular basis instead of just at the Festival.. I know some trucks operate every day but would love to know a place that has about 20 food trucks open 7 days a week...
I refuse to eat anything out of a food truck. I don't care if Bobby Flay is inside of it, the process is just too low class for me. That combined with the shoddy setup, the ridiculous lines, piss beer and the appalling live "music" makes this a piece of **** festival that should crawl back to where it came from. TRUTH.
This. They do something similar in Portland, it's awesome. Sounds like they royally effed this festival up. Too much demand, too little planning.
You're missing out on some good eats, man. Some of the best food out there comes from a truck or the side of the street.
No good food comes out a of truck. That is bush league. I think anyone who disagrees with me is obviously a low class individual with no sense of dignity.
