Keith Smart was a holdover from the Nelly days. As a reminder, one of the earliest changes withing the organization was to replace Nelly. The Bay Area had just about enough to of small ball and the general sentiment was that he was an interim coach at best to fill in the void so, no real surprise there.

Guess you can look at it that way. Still think that it was messed up.

the warriors have never been good. at least the rockets try to win. i'd take the rockets although there is more potential with the warriors.

I voted for The warriors. As a head coach, I would want to do my thing... implement my style of coaching, coach players that fit my system without having stat geeks looking over my shoulder and telling me which guys I should play because their hard drive shows that a lanky sucky center can accumalate 40 rebounds if he plays a 300 minute game of basketball.

Rockets have a way bigger market and better GM.

morey is poised to copy what miami did here in the next couple years... any head coach knows houston has alot of resources put into assembling the right team.

and an owner who will spend if the situation is right.

    houston - EASY

Hard to say no to Cali, but Rockets is the better job opening.

Some of you guys are delusional, but I guess that can be expected on here.

Rockets have far more stability, better ownership, a very well thought of front office and a better track record... the Warriors have more talented players, but they are very flawed and don't know how to win.

The Rockets job opening is better overall...

You do know that non-stat GM's and owners tell their coaches whom to play... in fact I don't believe Morey ever even told Adelman whom to play.

What is the difference between a GM that tells a coach to play someone because he likes him, or because he makes alot of money, and a GM saying to play someone because he has strong metrics?

This stuff is getting out of hand...

Morey had differences with Adelman which could have been narrowed down mutually, but DM is not trigger happy. They need to target new two way players to make the job of the new coach easier,

The Rockets try to win by firing good coaches and refusing to add anyone to the roster capable of outplaying their 6'6" center.

The Warriors 'don't know how to win' and the Rockets do?

Houston has a deep young core:

    Hayes/Miller
    Scola/Patterson
    Budinger/T-Will
    Martin/Lee
    Lowry/Dragic

The Rockets are a decent center away from being a playoff team. Adding a superstar on top of that would make us championship contenders. I feel like we have a deeper, more talented team than Golden State and are closer to being a champion...

The Golden State Warriors have had something like 10-11 coaches in the last 15-16 years from what I can see. They've been to the playoffs 2 times in those 15-16 years (the only 2 years over that span they've won 40+ games).

I'm sure Morey will give the candidates an iPad with a projection model that will prove these coaches could expect a 60 win team here and only hope to get 45 wins with the Warriors. :p

All this stuff about GSW's history is irrelevant. They have new owners now, so who knows if they'll be better, worse, or the same as the last group in running the franchise. Who knows if they'll continue to go through coaches like Kleenex.

Otherwise, I don't see either team having a big roster advantage. Assuming the contract offer is the same and the coach doesn't have a particular desire to live in San Francisco, I think it'll be pretty much up to the teams' pitches, and who the coach feels more comfortable working with.

For once I agree. Whenever Monta plays us; he looks like a borderline superstar.
