All I have to say is why are parents looking at underage student's facebook's?

I look at my nieces and nephews Facebook pages. If Facebook existed when my kids were teenagers, I'd have looked at theirs as well if I was their friend.

And to add to this, I have seen pictures and posts from my nephew that were really stupid to post and I let him know about it.

I don't understand the question. I look at my son's page regularly. When someone makes a comment on his wall (or vice versa), I often look at their page too.

Am I missing something? You do understand that when someone posts stuff on Facebook, they are telling the whole world to look at it and read it.

[Let me guess . . .you don't have kids?]

According to the Boston Globe, no fewer than 11 Melrose varsity athletes were recently identified in illegal possession of alcohol or tobacco in photos which first surfaced on Facebook. The photos were taken from the site by a concerned parent, transferred to a thumb drive and submitted to the school's administration as proof of inappropriate actions by the student body.

Maybe you missed the part about underaged drinking and tobacco?

whoever posted the pictures should probably catch a beating, but beyond that, this is all being blown way out of proportion.

I really disagree with school's sanctioning students for actions that occur away from school or or school sponsored events. That's a parent's responsibility. It's none of the school's business.

Like the guy who works for Miller Beer and gets fired for being photographed having a BUD at Mardi Gra
Or the Teacher with the wet tee shirt contest photos on her facebook
    I find those worse

I think the fact that they were a part of the football team means more restrictions. The Players are symbols of the school blah blah blah

Should've blocked their parents on facebook when you know party photos are going to be up there for everyone's viewing pleasure.

Don't know why they are making such a big deal out of this though.

Did you drink while you were underage? Kids are going to be kids and I would bet the house on it that these parents that saw these pics did it themselves.

The kids were stupid for posting it on facebook.

Whether I have kids or not doesn't matter RR. I can say that my parents let me have a beer or two while I was underage. They explained to me what was right and what was wrong. Most of the folks I know that had strict parents always ended up having to pick up their kids from jail or just went crazy. Can't shelter your kids period.

Actually I did not. I did not start drinking until I was 25.

So when these kids end up smears on the street. . . just say . . OH WELL KIDS WILL BE KIDS.
When these kids are preggers are 15 and using up your precious welfare money . . . OH WELL . .. KIDS WILL BE KIDS
When these kids die from Alcohol abuse. . . OH WELL . .. KIDS WILL BE KIDS . . .

Being a parent means not being your kids friend or buddy.
It means being a hypocrit sometimes. . it means doing what is BEST FOR THE KID . . not the kids image/kool status or some other bull****.

Nothing wrong with a little underage drinking. Hell the legal drinking age in most countries is 18 or lower. Posting pictures on facebook though, pretty silly.

yeah your right. lets just lock every kid up until they are how old? 21? if you do that they wont be any more mature and do the same thing as these young kids are. keep on coddling though.
parents should have taught kids by 15 there are consequences for actions. if they havent they wont get it at 21 either.
know some people that had strict parents like that, as soon as they were on their own they free falled to hardcore drugs.

I don't see where RR said anything about locking kids up (and none of these kids are being locked up).

I know people that had strict parents and became lawyers and doctors and didn't do hard drugs.

Exactly. I have seen more kids GO BAD from lack of supervision than the alternative.
People want to Let the kids free to do whatever.
Then when they do all kinds of bad isht on the BUS or at McDonalds etc
we wanna act like . . . they need to be put in prison forever.

Let kids be kids. . . until they do something we don't agree with
they but those evil b*st*rds under the prison. . . Right?
