I chose these two because they are both combination guards who can score and play good defense. Great two way role players.

Josh Selby may also be available at the 23rd pick, he has great two way potential. IMO he's the best guard outside of Irving, Walker and Knight. He would be a steal at the 23rd pick.

I don't know, I keep hearing that but he certainly played bad last season on the offensive end.

If we're going to develop a 23rd pick, and have him sit behind folks for 3-4 years, why not get the biggest , tallest , SOB in the draft ???....wont hurt since Mack, Singular, and others mention wont be even be on the roster in 3 years

Why do we need another PG when we are set at that position for years to come? The mock drafts I've seen are ridiculous....making us take a PG or PF.

I think Morey needs to trade up and grab a center.

Dragic is only under contract for next season (and that's IF the Rockets pick up their team option on his contract, which I expect they will do). He'll be an unrestricted free agent in 2012. If the entire 2011-12 season is wiped out by the lockout, he may never play another game for the Rockets. We just don't know.

Getting a third PG out of this draft is actually a SMART move. Hell, look at how Dragic had to play every single minute of the last 2-3 games just because of one injury.

If the BPA is a PG, you take him. If the BPAs (all else equal) are a PG, a SG (only) and a PF, you take the PG.

Exactly right, guards pan out better than bigs. Expected value of BPA PG would be more than BPA PF.

    23rd pick:
PG/SG's Darius Morris or Reggie Jackson or Mack or Selby

Works for me. I'd also like to see both 1st-rounders going for centers.

I still say DM will take two PFs out of the three picks.

I'm hoping a team that doesn't have a draft pick likes a player enough at this slot that they would give up their 2012 pick. Lakers, Nets maybe

Heres some good passing from Darius Morris. Also look at the last play at the 5:43 mark.

You're likely right about what they'll do. I'd bet that way. But IMHO, the smarter option would be taking a C with upside and signing a vet PG as the 3rd PG.

NBA big men come with a premium price tag. So I doubt the Rockets will ever fill the C void with a trade. And they don't operate in a Free Agency vacuum. A good number of teams have Dwight Howard cap space.

With the exception of Shaq, most Championship-level Centers stayed with the team that drafted them. I remain highly-skeptical about collecting assets to trade for a C that takes you to the promised land.

About Nogueira. He plays high school level competition in Spain. he will be no help at all if the Rockets draft him.

Shermadini - would be good here, but I think he would be in Europe for a couple more years probably.

I would stay away from Tyler. Every single thing about his time in Israel was that he was lazy and had a really selfish attitude. You never heard s single even decent thing said about him by anyone coach or teammate.

Shelvin Mack - would be nice if he is available here.

Don't want anyone in the draft named Morris. Not the twins or that PG that's slower than Derek Fisher. If Lucas isn't on the board then I want the team to draft either...
Josh Selby- Tough 6'3 PG/SG. Very athletic with NBA body and one of the top prospects coming out of high school.

Reggie Jackson- 6'3 PG with a SEVEN FEET wingspan. Scored 18ppg last season and shot 42% from three.

JaJuan Johnson- PF with Larry Sanders' type size. Smart guy. Has a high motor. 6'10-6'11, with long arms and super athletic. He put up 20ppg, 8.6rebs, 2.3blks and was the Big Ten Defensive Player of the year. Purdue alumni just like Landry.

Also throw in Travis Leslie on the list...

I'm not going to argue with you about your international assessments since I don't watch that, but it hurts your credibility to be touting up Shelvin Mack. He has maxed out his talent at the college level and even there he was a defensive specialist at PG/SG. You want a defensive specialist in the NBA, you take an NCAA all-american like Shane Battier. Defensive specialists in college become nothing in the NBA.

I've never seen Tyler play in Israel, but Brandon Jennings' success has set the precedent such that Tyler will probably still be given a chance to make it in the NBA. Granted he never had the behavioral problems Tyler was reported to have; but due to his immaturity or due to a presumed bias against young American prospects playing overseas, there will be the sentiment among management in the NBA that Tyler could blossom in a different environment.

If there's a center with upside on the board at ANY of the Rockets' spots, of course they'd seriously look to take him. I only said that (all else equal) taking a PG was a better option that taking a true SG or a PF.

Daryl's going to take the BPA. Centers with upside usually get placed higher on the draft board than others, so (again, all else equal) if there's a PG rated HIGHER than a "center with upside" on the Rockets' draft board, there's a good chance that the PG is MUCH better than the center.

Also, with the #23 (or #38) pick, I'd rather select a young PG with potential to be good (a la Kyle Lowry in 2006) than spend about the exact same amount of money paying the veteran's minimum to another old man off the scrap heap (a la Rod Strickland and Mark Jackson during the JVG era).

And, as for your point about centers not leaving the teams that draft them, I think the following all-time greats (besides Shaq) would beg to differ with you:

Wilt Chamberlain (left Philly for LA)
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (left Milwaukee for LA after winning a championship with the Bucks)
Bill Walton (broke down in Portland, then went to Boston and played at a high level when healthy)
Moses Malone (the Rockets traded him to Philly as a reigning MVP!)

(and that list doesn't even include "twighlight year movers" like Patrick Ewing or Hakeem. But I get your point.)
