Yeah! And I didn't see Iron Age on the sked either I'm working on my personalized schedule now, will post later, plz no stalk-o
Wow, I completely forgot about Girls. Sad to see they aren't there, must have dropped Current schedule Sat- Tyagaraja>Wild Moccasins>Los Skarnales>Tax the Wolf>Black Joe Lewis>Bun B>Big Boi>Sharon Jones or F***ed Up>Protomen>Beirut>Ween Sun- Hayes Carll>Black Angels or Kylesa>Yeasayer>Chromeo>BLACKIE>Cut Copy>Weezer Main stage is really good Sunday so ill be there most of the day. Have two conflicts though. I suppose Sharon Jones vs F'ed Up will depend on what mood I'm in since they are pretty different. Black Angels and Kylesa I'm just not sure on. Sunday Morning before Hayes Carll I'll probably be going stage to stage checking people out. And while I plan on my schedule pretty thoroughly for fests, I never end up following them completely
My tentative schedule: Saturday: Art Institute Limited Co-Pilot Wild Moccasins Los Skarnales Black Joe Lewis & The Honey Bears Bun B Big Boi Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings The Ton Tons Beirut Ween Sunday: Featherface Arthur Yoria The Niceguys Hayes Carll Giant Princess Yeasayer either Chromeo or some combination of Sundress/Spain-Colored Orange/Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit Lil Keke either Cut Copy or Z-Ro Weezer Any recommendations for the earlier slots on Saturday? I'm not really that hyped for ALI or Co-Pilot. Also, how "must-see" is Chromeo? I was planning on checking out a little this 'n' that during their set, but didn't want to miss something epic. I'll probably see Cut Copy over Z-Ro, just because Z-Ro plays in Houston more often, but still not sure...really disappointed with this conflict.
Kylesa is ok. They have dual drummers which is kinda cool. The Black Angels are awesome. I highly recommend them. If that's not enough.... <iframe width="560" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Nm9LEFETNOo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Here's my short and sweet list (* denotes a top 50 band for me): SATURDAY Beirut* Hey, I can only stand so much time in the sun! Okay, maybe I'll check out Fat Tony, Bun B, and Big Boi (I really wanted to see MF Doom. Argh.). I really wanted to see Tobacco, and I wouldn't have minded catching Young Mammals either... but they're both at the same time as Beirut, so forget that. SUNDAY By The End of Tonight Kylesa Yeasayer* Health* Chromeo* (whatever's left of their set after Health finishes) Cut Copy* I'm glad I've already seen Chromeo twice; otherwise, I would be pretty bummed that I wouldn't catch their whole set. Additionally, I have no interest in seeing either Wee____ band. Not that rap and electronica are mutually exclusive, but I think it's safe to say that the shared audience between Z-Ro and Cut Copy is small enough to schedule them at the same time? If you like Cut Copy enough, you should go see them since they're from Australia and don't tour the US too often. I'm not even sure if they've ever played Houston before... Anyway, I saw them in Philadelphia a few years back--the show was great. Unless you particularly like any of the other groups playing at that time, you should definitely go see Chromeo. Their live show is really entertaining. They don't take themselves too seriously, and their 80s dance grooves work really well live. Their live show has so much general appeal, I'd be surprised if you didn't enjoy it. If nothing else, all the cute girls should be there dancing away...
Yeah, I understand why they're scheduled at the same time, it's just disappointing for me personally. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna watch Cut Copy (mostly due to the rarity factor), even though Z-Ro's one of my all-time favorites. And thanks for the input about Chromeo. I'm typically wary of electronic acts at festivals (see: Girl Talk), but there's really no must-see acts for me during that time slot, so I'll give em a whirl.

One big problem with that: This is one of the only places Z-Ro plays that a yuppy like me can feel comfortable for his life.
They updated the schedule, some of the times have been changed and Peelander Z replaced Killing Joke but nothing major from what I noticed. The map is out too. Its in a much bigger area now and apparently they have a bunch of places for free water. Also, this year is going to have a Playstation tent, a skatepark, more art installations, more food, fireworks, paint slide returns, and a bunch of stuff like that. It all around sounds awesome.
I'm skipping it this year, nobody really interests me that much... and I hate sitting on my ass for 8 hours on an incline in 100 degree Houston swamp weather. Will y'all do me a solid though and please chuck your beer bottles at the stage if Weezer plays Beverly Hills.
who ended up playing the after show at fitz last night? i had 4 tickets but gave them away b/c i just couldn't muster up the energy to do a damn thing after the heat beat down at the festival. pretty amateur move by FPH, though... when i bought my tickets for the after show they had listed cut copy/dirty vegas as the headliners. about a week or two later they nonchalantly switched them to sunday and left the saturday headliner unannounced. heard a rumor it was going to be big boi but i haven't heard a thing about it so who knows. bun b and big boi were the highlights of yesterday... black joe lewis was solid, as was f***** up. the ton tons ripped as well. really wanted to stick around for beirut but it was just too damn hot.
so so much fun, my friend and i downed a couple 375ml jose cuervos and snuck onstage for bun b and big boi, it was so awesome. black joe louis was definitely my favorite performance...ya he was ****ed up, as were most there.
@SWT- Big Boi was the Saturday aftershow headliner. i didn't go though, I was too exhausted. Both days were awesome. Ended up seeing Wild Moccasins, Los Skarnales, Black Joe Lewis, Bun B, Big Boi, Peelander Z, F***ed Up, The Protomen, Beirut, and Ween day one. Wild Moccasins were great and Los Skarnales was a fun party. Black Joe can jam, he was awesome. Big Boi was awesome and Peelander Z was not what I expected (I'd never listened), but they were tons of fun. F***ed Up was the craziest show I've ever seen, the singer did the whole show in the pit and people were going crazy. It was so much fun. The Protomen were fantastic, Beirut was good, and I honestly didn't like Ween at all (I had never really listened before though). none of my friends with me did either. Seemed like a bad choice for a headliner to me. And day two was even better. Hayes Carll killed it (though they cut him short ), Yeasayer was more awesome than I expected, Chromeo was incredibly fun, Cut Copy was my favorite show of the fest, everything about them was awesome. huge dance party and singalongs. And Weezer was awesome. I was dead tired by the time they came on though, so I didn't have quite as much fun as I would have, but near the end they started throwing waters and I got one, and that got me my energy back. Encore was amazing and the fireworks to "Buddy Holly" was just the perfect ending. I had more fun than last year and I can't wait to see where this festival goes, there was a huge turnout this year. oh, and Moes, I was totally prepared to chunk bottles just for you, but Weezer never played Beverly Hills
Beirut was awesome. Effed Up was fun. Cut Copy was surprisingly good, though repetitive. Big Boi was sick. Weezer was overwhelmingly nostalgic. Good weekend.
They only played a total of 3 songs from their last 4 albums (Perfect Situation, Pork and Beans, and I Want You To, all of which were fun). They played 8 of the 10 songs on the Blue Album, a B-side from the Blue Album, and they played 2 or 3 from Pinkerton.
