NBA NBA Dwight Howard, Rajon Rondo, Kevin Garnett, LeBron James & Kobe Bryant named to 2010-11 NBA All Defensive First Team. Tony Allen, Chris Paul, Tyson Chandler, Andre Iguodala & Joakim Noah named to 2010-11 NBA All Defensive Second Team.
KObe?????........Here goes these Lifetime Achievement Award BS!!!...Even Rondo didnt have a full years impact on the defensive end....... These awards dont carry the same merit anymore
Kobe and James are questionable. They aren't even the best perimeter defenders on their own team (James, debatable, Kobe, defin not). Tony Allen has to be 1st team. The way he played this year. Such bs.
Forgot to add, didn't he come in 4th in DPoY voting? Doesn't being the FOURTH best defensive player in the league merit a spot in the first team, since it has FIVE spots? NBAlogicfail.
LeBron isn't questionable. The Heat are with the Bulls as the best defensive teams in the NBA and LeBron is their best defensive player. Kobe is a complete joke on this last (as he has been every year since about 2001, when he was a decent defender). The abuse he took "guarding" Terry, Peja, etc. in this latest series was typical of his whole year performance, but somehow the lifetime award he got from the one time he "shut down" Allen Iverson has carried on for a decade. Where the award truly fails is in recognizing non-big-name players who are really responsible for team defense. I'm talking about guys like Sefolosha or Bogans who are 10x the defender Kobe has ever been.
It's not even about Lifetime Achievement. Every year he has made the All-NBA 1st team has been a joke. He's given the award because of the perception that he could play great defense if he wanted to. We saw how that worked out against Dallas.
it was sad yet funny, watching Kobe attempt to guard each Dallas perimeter player , only to "funnel his man to an open jumper for himself or an teammate...Then as usual the "I cant do everything by myself" look followed.....
I don't get it. If you want to put Kobe one the 2nd team, ok, that's debatable. But can anybody honestly say that Kobe, right now, is a better defender than Tony Allen, who is a defensive specialist
my list 1st team g: CP3 g: Tony Allen f: Grant Hill f: Kevin Garnett C: Dwight Howard 2nd team: g: rondo g:Iggy Smalls f: Ibaka f: Chuck Wagon (little biased here lol) C: Tyson Chandler I was thinking lowry for second but i felt he tried/foucused a lot harder on defense when he came off the bench (probably toned it down due to minute increase)
Because he isn't Kobe Bryant duh. You have to let your opponent tie the nba playoff record for 3s to get included on the all defensive team.
