that was a hideous game and the celtics lost it more than the lakers won it. Funny, because i was thinking about the lakers 2 championships and how they certainly had a good amount of breaks. Orlando never had a chance with jameer not 100% and the celtics without perkins, in addition to playing horrile in game 7.
"Thank God it just popped back in...it's a painful feeling, but I'll be fine." -Rajon Rondo "I don't know what's going on. I've done tests to try and figure this thing out, but it almost feels like you hit your funny bone and it kind of numbs up for a little bit." - LeBron James
every championship team has had breaks. How big of a break do you consider MJ retiring for 2 years when the Rockets won their two titles?
talk about a run of mediocrity: 2010 Defeated Oklahoma City, 4-2, first round Defeated Utah, 4-0, conference semifinals Defeated Phoenix, 4-2, conference finals Defeated Boston, 4-3, NBA finals Lakers NBA Champions 2008-09 Defeated Utah, 4-1, first round Defeated Houston, 4-3, conference semifinals Defeated Denver, 4-2, conference finals Defeated Orlando, 4-1, NBA finals 2007-08 Defeated Denver, 4-0, first round Defeated Utah, 4-2, conference semifinals Defeated San Antonio, 4-1, conference finals Lost to Boston, 4-2, NBA finals The only team on that list they beat that was worth talking about was boston finals last year barely eeking through with a joey crawford stern fix job in game 7. And when they beat San Antonio in 2007-08. Even then I dont think that SA team was at full health. So in short the lakers suck , and their legacy is one of playing mediocre teams, and david stern assistance. big time yawn, and big time asterisk. And we would have won with a healthy yao (we did game 1 btw) Really all I can think about is what a dirty little you know what kobe is when he hit battier...thats kobes legacy to me along with him airballing over and over in the last game of year in playoffs, his rookie year.. also what a dirty little you know what fisher was to scola. and now bynum, artest with clotheslines and lamar odom? Wow what a bunch of overrated vaginas baby sore losers. They really just took a major dump on the lakers image ,and if I was jerry buss, magic, worthy, jabbar I would be furious. This is worse than nick van exel era. at least during the ceballos / van exel dark years, we knew them for what they were - gangstas. this now is a disgrace to the lakers name. As much as I am a laker hater there was a respect of magic and seeing him come lay triple doubles on the rockets. They did it with respect on the court and played well. You can say the same for bird as much as he killed the rockets. I don't get that feeling with these current lakers. It all goes back to kobe and the cancer starts there. A dirty little cry baby. Thats the image that kobe cancered through to the team and artest odom bynum ate it up. Kobe may be good but I'm glad he is not on the rockets. I wouldnt want to win like that from the point of view of a true a b**ch. His aura has tarnished these current lakers ,and I definitely think the name has taken a major hit. Out of respect to jabbar and magic I think that is a shame.
None the Rockets would have beaten the Bulls. The Rockets were the Bulls worst matchup. The Bulls were lucky the Rockets never made to the finals when Jordan was winning his titles first 3 titles.
Rockets were constantly cheated by the league allowing Seattle to play an illegal defense. Rocket River
The Celtics outplayed the Lakers in every quarter but got completely jobbed by Joey and his crew in the 4th. All of a sudden all of the ticky tack fouls that they were letting go in quarters 1-3 were called on the C's, but not on the other end. It's really impossible to overcome 21 FTs in the 4th in a game that is as slow and plodding as that.
same reason they lost to MIA today...unable to execute down the stretch offensively...PP is old and they really do not have a dominant star to goto at the end of games. Team play only gets you so far. Lakers won it fair and square last year, and lost fair and square this year. BOS hasn't changed (they're still an elite team), but the L got better. That's all there is to it
So your saying that they're NOT done, and can still compete next year like what every body else is saying? . So are you an advocate for Ainge to blow it up or keep the core and get a better supporting cast?
As I recall, every season the majority of fans think otherwise, that they ARE done. And yes, I do think that their CORE is good enough to contend for another year or so....Real elite teams don't rebuild, they retool
Wow, its good to know someone agrees that Boston should keep it together. They aren't going to get anything much of value for an aging Allen and Kg. So they should just let their contracts expire. Personally, I think they could get much value for Jeff Green/Rondo + First Round Clippers Pick
Yea but it seen LA gets big breaks. Just look at this. The first championship came when KG was done for the year that pretty much left the door wide open for LA, because just last year Boston beat them in six. I really think if KG was healthy they beat LA again, but thats a if and at the same time its a break. Not only did they get that break another one came the same year, when Nelson was playing at 10% in the finals. I'm not saying with a healthy Nelson the Magic would have won, but it would have at lease been better than a five game series. And they caught a big break by Perkins getting hurt last year.
Ray Allen hurt Boston. He had the big half I can't remember which game it was but after that half he didn't do anything for Boston.
they needed perkins to stop the Lakers from getting all those offensive rebs and putbacks. those kept them in the game in the first half. if not for those the 15 pt lead the celtics had in the 3rd would have been up over 20. they also needed ray allen to actually show up. he had one good game the whole series. i love ray, hes one of my favorites of all time, but he absolutely did not step up when they needed it the most, and thats WITH a bunch of open looks. i hate to say it but hes a HUGE reason they lost.
Lakers have gotten more breaks than most other teams combined in their history. I don't see that changing any time soon.
