We can't let this thread fall all the way to the third page of the hang out, how's everybody doing? So it's going to be around 3 weeks before I get the pull-up bar and the bands, all I have now is the p90x videos and the yoga mat that arrived today, Is it worth it to get started with those for the sake of prepping myself in advance? If so what do you recommend? I would also like to know how good of an idea is putting the videos on my Ipod classic. Thanks in advance.
Do you have weights? Without weights/bands and the pull-up bar, you aren't going to be able to do any of the resistance workouts. Maybe you should do a few weeks of power-90 to get yourself ready for the jump to p90x. I don't think that program requires any equipment aside from the mat.
Great workout today, legs & back. much easier than last week, but then again I was feeling pretty crappy last Friday. Ab ripper continues to get easier, I actually like crunchy frog now, I could do maybe 4 or 5 of those when I first started, now I zip through all 25. And the 50 mason twists of course. good stuff, I always feel super proud when I finish. Oh, and fifer scissors freaking HURRRT when you do it unmodified. I think today was the first time I actually tried to get through all 25 without putting my hand behind my knee. Count faster, ya jackwad! just kidding tony.
"Get it...scissor." That phrase pisses me off so much lol...Fifer scissor is the only exercise in the whole Ab Ripper X video that I literally have to stop after every 6-10 for a break. But damn, ABX is probably one of my favorite parts of the workout.
"I could do a hundred but I gotta go check on the kids." Day 72, Chest & Back done. Last time to do that workout for this round. Sad times! I can't decide if I want to do P90 Doubles or a P90X/Insanity hybrid for Round 2.
Chuck4 that is just great. In that "before" pic you look like about 90% of the guys I see at Texans, Longhorns, and Aggie games. And these same guys don't realize how incredibly overweight and unhealthy they are. I think its a southern thing to not realize how out of shape you are because when I lived in Oregon, everyone was fit and the same when I lived in Boise Idaho. Now I'm back in texas and I see the big belly hanging over the belt with the skinny legs type guys in khaki shorts and university branded polo shirts tucked in. A sad sight. Congrats on your accomplishment.
Thanks! I knew I needed to lose weight, but it was not until I saw that picture that I realized just how much I had "let go." Like I keep saying, if I can do it anyone can.
I had the same type of body. I used to be 325 lbs and I had lost 130 lbs. Unfortunately I blew out my knee two years ago and gain like 60 lbs since then. I had to stay idle for nearly 6 months. I can't run or do so any of the exercises I did before because of the how bad my knee was/is. Doctor told me since they had to stitch my knee cap back to where it's suppose to be, it wouldn't be wise to run. Right now I'm doing a different diet with a lot of walking. I've dropped 15 pounds over the past 5 weeks. It's hard when you can't do the things you used to do. Congrats though. I bet you're really happy.
You should try counting your calories & sodium using Myfitnesspal.com (it's seriously easy) and get some Skechers Shape-ups. I know shape-ups have gotten a reputation for being for Ladies only (come on, Joe Montana has them!) but that isn't true. And they're great if your primary exercise is walking. I recommend them.
How does this compare to insanity? My girl sent me this vid and it turns out the guy (Mike Chang) is someone I went to Hastings with. Spoiler <iframe width="560" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/bkD9LwDBWW0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> I'm trying to do this & ab ripper x on my days off from the gym. It's pretty tough and will take time to build up to 10 sets of each exercise without stopping.
I took about half of my wardrobe to Goodwill yesterday (see the picture behind the spoiler tag) because I looked like a kid who stole his Dad's clothes whenever I wore some of it now. I can actually get around my closet now. I had to go buy new clothes though, so that part hurt a bit financially. But worth it in the end. Spoiler Don't worry, the Rockets shirt is a McGrady one anyways...
Finished week 1 and now going to start week 2 today. Man was I sore last week, I forgot how intense some of these workouts can get. I curl up like a shrimp after legs and abs. Had a buddy who was doing some of them with me for added motivation but now he is sick so I'll just have to push through it solo. Just have to keep telling myself to keeping pushing harder.
I'm sure there are other good programs out there, I just hate it when they feel like they need to advertise how they're "better than P90x" or take a shot at it. That just makes them sound like little b****es. Tell me about YOUR product, not how it compares to someone elses. Maybe it's just me though.
