Turge to Maryland? Some twitter rumors from MD radio are saying that is the case though they have already been wrong twice ..

With some of Turge's comments this season, it wouldnt surprise me. Not sure where we go from here if that is the case. Gotta find someone that is going to hold the recruiting class of Branch and Green together or the wheels are going to fall off. FYI, Branch has already stated on Twitter that he is gone if Turge left when there were prior rumors

I hope to god he effin' leaves. What a freaking joke this guy has been. Riding the coattails of Billy's players while not doing crap in recruiting and constantly b****ing about attendance and various other things. Maybe we can still snatch Billy back from tceh.

Well it's far from over with Turge, but the first call Bill Byrne will likely make is to Buzz Williams from Marquette. There is a good chance we could get him as he is a former BCG disciple and knows the Texas recruiting landscape well. He did turn OU down (though they are a program in shambles).

If we struck out with him, I think we would be in big trouble at that point.

Seems like a good fit for him, but Marquette is the superior program no? Its kind of scary because if Turge leaves now, its a pretty crappy time to be looking for a replacement.

Would Reggie Theus coach college basketball again? I'd love to have him.

PointForward, Turgeon is no BCG, but he has done very well and we're not strongly positioned to replace him with another coach of his caliber. Losing him, especially at this juncture in the offseason, could really set the program back.

I think Marquette is a superior program, but they are not elite. If Buzz Williams was not from Texas, we probably wouldn't have a shot. I think he has been looking to get back to Texas in the right situation though.

Edit: Also have heard that both Turgeon and Byrne are both MIA today on-campus which could be a very bad sign. Oh well .. at least the Football team is respectable again so things may be back in order I guess.

Definitely not good .. also from what I understand Buzz Williams has a $3 million buyout now so I don't think the AD is going to be willing to pay that.

@BrentZwerneman:Still no Turgeon at Reed, and everyone I've talked to who works here say they haven't heard from him.

Texas A&M coach Mark Turgeon has not made a decision yet whether or not to accept Maryland's offer, sources told FOXSports.com.

Turgeon will likely decide today, the sources told FOXSports.com.

Sources told FOXSports.com Mark Turgeon is leaning towards accepting Maryland job - although it looked that way with Sean Miller as well.

Twitter really revolutionizing this whole process. I keep hitting refresh. Go back to when I first started this thread, never imagined something like this back then.

Well .. there is now confirmation from A&M insiders that Turgeon is actually in Maryland on-campus.

Everyone is still saying that he is undecided, but if he is actually on campus as everyone seems to be agreeing on, the fat lady is singing.

Consider me Mr. Negative, but here are the ramifications as I see it.

    1) We likely will not get a big enough name coach to keep our recruiting class together and Jamal Branch is gone.

    2) Our big hope in recruiting was Shaq Cleare who was deciding between Maryland and A&M. I think this makes his decision easy. The Harrison Twins were likely to follow him to wherever he picked so they are gone too.

    3) Another year with Dash at the point with most of last years team likely means a sub-par year especially losing BJ Holmes and Nathan Walkup.

    4) Uh oh!

Edit: The crazy thing to me is that I still don't understand is what has Turge done to deserve all these Job opportunities. He was damn lucky IMO to be making $1.8 Million at A&M where he has done nothing substantial on the court or in recruiting. He has been decent at both, but he has not proven to be one of the top coaches. Usually I root for other coaches when they go somewhere else like BCG, but I was already irritated with Coach Turgeon and his incessant whining. That said, him leaving is a real shot in the nuts and it could have a long lasting effect on our program.

He has supposedly accepted a $2.8M deal with Maryland making him the 5th highest paid coach in America. That is insanity!

2.8 mil!? Not that I dont trust you but any link or anything on that? Surely does look like he is gone. Time to start looking at possible replacements, in which I have no idea.

The buzz from sources within A&M program is that Turgeon is taking Maryland job. We should know either way by 6:30. Hasn't done so yet.

    TexAgs TexAgs.com
According to @billyliucci, there is serious concern from A&M that Mark Turgeon will accept Maryland job and those on UMD's side are very confident
