There were BYC players involved in this trade, so this trade is subject to the BYC provisions of the CBA. Due to Houston and Miami being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Houston and Miami had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out unless trade exceptions were used for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. I checked to see if Scola/Miller/TWill for Bosh would work financially-- it does-- because I'd like to see Luis get a ring or two this next couple years, while we're not contenders. If Miami gets knocked out next round, they might look at this. If we can ever get a bona fide center, Bosh/Pat would be a decent four spot. My hunch is that Scola/Miller/TWill will be packaged. What kind of center could we get in return?
Trade proposal: Lee, T Williams, Jordan Hill, Thabeet for Luol Deng Why Chicago would do it: They want Lee and they would like to get out of Deng's contract (and the other three players I listed are on expiring contracts). Plus, the playoffs have shown they desperately need a legit 2 guard next to Rose, and Lee has shown he fits the bill this season and in the past. Also, he is the type of guy Tom Tib's would love. Why Houston should do it: it would give the team a very good Small forward, who I think is an under-rated 2 way multi-dimensional player who can rebound, defend and score. Also, houston could thin the roster of all the underperforming non-rotation players in order to make space for the 3 draft picks they have.
A little high on Deng are we? He is owed around $40M/3 yrs. Besides, I'm pretty sure the Bulls are enjoying Deng's ability to handle lebron, pierce, durant, melo, etc on the defensive end way more than they would appreciate Lee as their 2 guard.
Do you think this trade would make sense? http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=3vlaftd LAKER Out - Gasol, Ron Artest In- Kevin Martin, Turko, Brad, Thabeet Houston Out - Scola, Kmart, BMiller, Thabeet In- Dwight, Granger Indiana Out - granger In-Brandon Bass, J.Nelson Magic Out - Dwight , JNelson, Turko In - Gasol, Scola, Ron Artest I think it would but that is just in my head..
No. It makes zero sense, unless all 3 GMs are under contract with the Rockets. Lakers have Kobe who plays the same position as Kevin Martin, Indiana gets almost nothing for Granger, and why would LA facilitate DHoward to Houston when they are giving up 2/3 of the pieces to Orlando.
To Houston Andre Iguodala (13.5m) Andrew Bogut (12m) Drew Gooden (6.2m) To Bucks Brad Miller (4.7m) Hasheem Thabeet (5.1m) Battier TPE for Gooden #14 #23 To Philly Luis Scola (8.6m) Chase Budinger (.88m) Jordan Hill (2.9m) Lowry / Dragic Martin / Lee Iggy Patterson / Hayes / Gooden Bogut / Yao Above average defensively at 4 positions, competent offensively.
Don't think it makes sense for the Lakers or Indiana. Philly out - AI, Battie, Brand In - Scola, KMart Orlando Out - D.Howard, Turkey Gloo In - Bynam, Brand + LA PICK + HOUSTON PICK Lakers Out - Pau, Bynam + Pick In - D Howard Rockets Out - Scola, KMart + Pick In - Pau, AI Everyone is better . . . except Orlando but they maybe have room to grow. ROCKETS: PAU/Hill/Chuck Patterson/Chuck AI/CBud Lee/TWill Lowry/Dragic I cannot say that is a horrible line up Rocket River
I know you want those guys badly, but we're simply bad trade partners. Both teams can get better offers from other teams and while I'd love to get Bogut, I'd hate to take on a guy like Gooden and his awful contract. I'm not convinced a the assembled team would be good enough to win it all either. It'd be a very good team - much better than the current team - no doubt, but not having the pieces other team have or are willing to offer might be a blessing in disguise.
Might not be good enough to win it all but it makes us better and sets us up for future trades. All of a sudden, we can make good offers for Howard, Paul, etc.
Yeah, sure. The point about other teams being in a better postion to trade for those guys stands though. The Paul situation is a bit fishy, with the NBA owning the team, but I'd think there's a chance we could get him for somehting like Lowry, Thabeet, Hill, Lee and two first rounders. With Paul on team, Howard might come here - via free agency. Wishful thinking, I know.
I think we can make a competitive offer as is, the problem is it guts our team. With my proposed trade, we could offer Martin and Bogut for Howard and still have pieces in place to be competitive.

I've heard differently from other T-Wolves fans, when I proposed it to them. They said they wouldn't do it if they land with in the top two picks(Irving and Williams), but may do it, if they land in the 3rd or 4th spots in the draft.
Neither of your proposals seem very realistic though. We'd be getting a top five center (Bogut) by taking on a bad contract and giving up two late 1st rounders in a weak draft. I don't see that as even approaching fair value for a player of Bogut's caliber. Your Philadelphia proposal has Scola as the centerpiece despite Philly paying Brand $35M to play the same position; I can't see that happening either.
If the T-Wolves' forum is anything like Clutchfans, you better take what they said with a mountain of salt. Would I personally do it for a #3 or #4 pick? If there was a legit big man prospect, yes.
