Why is Happ so utterly terrible this year?

He was fortunate to only give up 1 in the 4th. If he can collect himself, this can still be a quality start for him.

But what we should really be asking is why we cant score against an opposing pitcher with a 6 era ?

And why is our offense incapable of doing anything at all against a pitcher who's been shelled all year?

Johnson is a strikeout machine, I'm done with him

Everyone knew he was due for a substantial regression based on his .387 average on balls in play (BABIP) but who knew it would nose-dive past average all the way down to .230. He went from very lucky on balls in play to very unlucky.

His strikeout rate hasn't changed at all. It was 26.7% last year and 26% going into today's game.

I imagine his real average is closer to .260-.270. His walk rate also dropped from 4.3% in '09 and 4.1% to 1.8% this year.

I wonder how much his great year last year was due to Baggy being the hitting coach?

Based on BB/K, these are our worst:

    Joe Inglett .00 (0 BB, 7 K)
    Chris Johnson .07
    Humberto Quintero .15
    Bill Hall .22

    and OBP:

    Joe Inglett .208
    Chris Johnson .229
    Carlos Lee .262
    Bill Hall .273

    RC27

    Joe Inglett 1.34
    Chris Johnson 2.31
    Bill Hall 2.63
    Humberto Quintero 2.78

...and pretty much the same bunch dont create runs either.

And with Jason hurt, our best option is Joe Inglett?

They need to start giving Towles and Downs more playing time with their counterparts hitting so crappy. Chris Johnson needs to go back to the minors and figure out how to hit a freaking curveball.

He's got nothing to work with but trash, what do you expect. It's not like anyone besides Lopez and Melancon are worth anything and he can't pitch them every single game. Stop hating.

I turn my attention to the Mavs/Lakers for 5 minutes and I come back and A-bad has given up the lead?
