I find it funny that people think Mayweather will beat Manny. How do you win just running away and playing defense? If Mosley was afraid to throw any punches Mayweather won't be throwing any punches. He'll have his right punching hand to his face the whole night like Mosley did. Not only that. Mosley have a tougher chin than soft Gayfeather. I laugh at people still under estimating Manny every single fight. When they all think they will fight and counter punch Manny only to learn it's a dangerous idea to go toe to toe with Manny. You will get knock out if you do.
I'm surprised after watching that fight that they didn't make out during the post fight interview. That definitely wasn't a good showing for either fighters. I can't believe i bought into the fight having the possibility of being an exciting match. The only match worth watching, for a while now, is Mayweather and Manny. I can't see either fighter adding another notch to their proverbial belt until this happens. Everything else is paycheck fodder.
I agree. If they fight anyone else besides each other, it will be a mismatch. Disappointed in Shane. He said he was going to trade shots and goto war, he became a defensive fighter. I don't know why people are complaining about Manny being nice. Hes always like that with every opponent. Nothing new. He smiles at them, beats them up and then invites them to his bday party.
Well even though manny didn't call him out at least mosely did the job for him by calling him the best pound for pound fighter and that he never fought anybody who has the speed and power like him before. Ouch gayweather ouch
First time I've seen manny look old in a fight. His legs were noticiably slower and he got hit clean a decent amount of times by a completely shot Mosely. To those saying Manny took it easy on Shane because they get along, manny is much closer friends with Morales and Hatton then he is with Shane so that isn't a factor. Shane had no interest in fighting but evereyone knew this fight was going to suck going in. I think Manny did what he could to make it a good fight but it is what it. I don't see manny winning more then 3 rounds against Floyd in all honesty. He was there to be countered all night and was wide open for the check hook which is a big part of Floyd's arsenal.
Does Floyd do enough on offense to slow down Manny? I dont think those pop shots can slow him down. Hes took flush shots from bigger guys strong punchers like Cotto, Margarito and now Shane, and just walks through them. Reason why I got this fight 50/50 is because of Manny's work rate. I wouldn't be surprised if he had Floyd running all night like Shane. Marquez did well against Manny not just because hes a counter puncher, but he throws in combinations and was willing to take chances and trade shots. Floyd throws one or two punches at a time and likes to play it safe. I dont believe that will be enough.
MGM Grand sucks donkey ass compared to the Cowboy stadium... The atmosphere doesn't even compare to the Cowboy stadium.. Also what's up with the awkward ring entrances by both fighters??? LL Cool J and Jimi Jameson??? Was Steve Perry from Journey busy in Chicago or something??
Definitely. Floyd lets his hands go when he knows he can find the target. Manny/Floyd will be more like Corrales/Floyd then Castillo/Floyd. Manny can definitely take a punch but Floyd's will come from angles he's never seen. I think Floyd lures him in early and dominates from 4-12. Maybe manny gets a late rally in 11 or 12 but he'll be so far behind on the scorecards it won't matter. i completely disagree with this. JMM isn't a risk taker nor does he put his punches together more then Floyd. He is a great counter puncher and has just recently opened up a little more on offense. I think that's more of a result of him getting hit and knocked down early then anything else.
You have to remember those fans see big fights all the time while it's a rarity in Dallas. That plays a huge role in things. i didn't expect them to boo though. Not good for Arums first promotion with CBS
As dominating as Manny was tonight, I have to say that, if Mosley was about 8 years younger, he'd have won. The superiority of the technique was obvious. Manny couldn't catch him like he does all his other opponents. That's the "black American" boxing style Roger and Floyd have been saying Manny's untested against. Shane just parried Manny's punches all night long. If Shane still had his reflexes, this would've been a very different fight. I really can't count Manny among the greatest until he fights Mayweather. That's the only fight that needs to happen. Manny's been fighting beaten fighters since Oscar: Oscar, Hatton, Cotto, Clottey, sort of, Margarito, and now, Mosley - three of those, coincidentally, courtesy of Mayweather. And with all that said, I really, really doubt Pacquiao can beat Mayweather. Floyd, now, is like a prime Mosley and more. Bigger reach, much faster hands, with the shoulder roll. If Pacquiao couldn't pin an old Mosley down, it's gonna be an absolute disaster against Floyd. BTW, I was loling bad when Pacquiao turned absolutely sour against Mosley for that push that was counted as a knockdown. They stopped touching gloves at the end of the round at that point.
Good post. If Manny doesn't ever fight Floyd he's still top 50 all time in my opinion. His recent run of fighters coming off losses doesn't diminish his MAB, Morales and JMM run.
Superiority of technique? He was running away all the time since he got knocked down. You call that technique?
Google translation: Pacquiao is this generation's Hector 'Macho' Camacho... Prime example, Sugar Ray Leonard fight, lol...
Bob Arum said it best: "Pacquiao would beat the crap out of Mayweather. And the guy who knows that best is a student of boxing, Floyd Mayweather Jr."
