    I probably should have posted this here;

Terrence Jones has taken his name out of the draft.

Congrats Hayesfan, that Kentucky team of yours is going to be loaded next year. But so will be the 2012 NBA Draft. ;)

He's not like Kirirlenko much. He is not nearly as skilled as Kirilenko. Kirilenko has been used at SF, but his natural position is PF and always has been and he plays much better there. Vesely is a SF that could be used at PF in certain match ups or situations. Vesely does not have near the length of Kirilenko

Kirilenko is just flat out a lot more skilled and versatile. Vesely is taller by about an inch and he is quite frankly, on a totally different level athletically. People are saying Vesely is like a "young Kirilenko" athletically but that isn't right. Even when Kirilenko was at his best athletically he was definitely not on the level of athletic ability that Vesely has. Vesely has athletic ability that is extremely rare at the NBA level.

Kirilenko is more of a team and help defender and weak side shot blocker. Vesely is more of a straight man up defender. Vesely is much more like Batum. Limited on offense, but has the talent and ability to become good on offense, very, very athletic for the SF position, and can be a great man defender at SF. The difference is Vesely has about 3 inches in height on Batum and he is even more athletic.

Frischilla compared Vesely to Tom Chambers, and down the road as his game develops as i expect it to, that is a much closer comparison than Kirilenko. So if you want to project what type of NBA player he would be, indeed Chambers is a lot closer than Kirilenko.

In other words, he is white so he can't be as athletic as all those blacks.

In other words, Americans (blacks) are "athletically superior" to "Euros" (whites).

Well... there are a few exceptions, but usually that's the case.

And I'm a European white dude, so don't even try going there.

I know racism when I see it, and a couple of those posts were clearly racist.

Thanks. Great post. You'd be a lot more well-received if you posted more like this and less of the "you guys are stupid, don't know anything" type stuff. Enjoyed your take there.

    Thanks for the update.

Dammit, everybody is taking their name out.

What's next, Biyombo decides to play for UConn? Faried goes for his masters degree?

It's racist to point out that the best NBA athletes are primarily black?

Facts aren't racist. Who is the best white athlete in the NBA? Budinger? Griffin?:grin:

Doesn't mean Vesely can't be an outlier.

How do we define athletic ability anyway? I'm assuming it's speed/quickness, leaping ability, strength.

I admittedly do not follow European basketball very closely ever since my favorite player joined NBA and I became more busy with my studies. But what I have seen of Jan’s athleticism does impress me; he can really jump out of the building. I would not go as far as OHMMMMS that he would be the single most athletic player in the NBA, but his athleticism is crazy good. Here are some highlights you requested.

This video breaks down Jan Vesely's game better.

This will lead to Kawhi Leonard and Chris Singleton being drafter higher. Sucks for us at 14. Need to trade for higher picks.

The way Locke breaks it down, it makes it seem as if one of these European prospects will drop out of the lottery.

The players with a chance to be special in this draft in no particular order:
    Irving
    D. Williams
    Enes Kenter
    Bismach Biyombo
    Jan Vesely
    Jimmer Fredette
    Brandon Knight

The players that will be quality NBA players in no particular order:
    Kemba Walker
    Alec Burks
    Klay Thompson
    Kenneth Faried
    Marcus Morris
    Markieff Morris
    Justin Harper

The players with the greatest flop potential:
    Jonas Valanciunas
    Donatas Montiejunas

    Possible second round steals:
    Isaiah Thomas
    Jimmy Butler
    Jordan Williams
    Keith Benson
    Jeremy Tyler

Everyone else will get a cup of coffee in the NBA or have a very limited career.

I personally prefer Jonas to Biyombo and Vesely.

That video about Valanciunas (comments included)... gotta be kidding me. Seems like he's judging him only by that game. Furthermore:

    - He is already a 7 footer (and not a PF).

    - He is 18 years old, 2 years younger than Vesely and 5 years younger than Jordan Hill. Competing in the Euroleague.

    Baaad, specially for my wager.

    anchel,

we need to get a player that can actually play, not sit over in Europe for 2 seasons or ride the pine over here and play in dleague for 2 seasons. Jonas ain't ready and may never be ready. Just like that Noguiera kid. They're too light in the britches combined with too young.
