I think it is kind of funny how people still say "Xbox = FPS" and "PS3 = RPG." I guess it might be a bit closer to the truth now than say 2-3 years ago, but I'd say the opposite could be just as accurate (PS3 = FPS, 360 = RPG). And if "RPG" means "console Japanese RPG", then you really shouldn't bother with either. Some great gems here and there, but I think this generation has been a massive disappointment in that area. Probably better off playing old PS1 or PS2 RPGs IMO.
But the action games have been really good though. DMC4 was DMC4, GOW lived up to the hype. New IPs like Assassin's Creed were big hits. Then you have a game like uncharted that blows everything out. Also some of the more action RPGs like demon souls have been pretty good too.
This seems to summarize for me the best, as someone with casual experiences and tendencies. I'm really leaning to the 360 cause my friends all have it and its the most common platform for most kids/young adults my age. However, as a casual player (as I would anticipate especially so once I get a job) I also think the PS3 would be more suited. So how much does XBL cost usually?
