This. I want some new blood at the top. ... I am a bit conflicted, though, because I hate their owner, and I wish the team had stayed in Seattle. If they were still in Seattle, they would easily be my top pick. Really, though, I would be pretty OK with anybody but LA winning. My top three choices are Miami, Dallas, and OKC.
There is a big difference between respecting the spurs and referring to them as "we" when you are apparently a Rockets fan. Big difference there.
What's wrong with rooting for the Thunder? -Their coach is Scottie Brooks. The. Energizer. Bunny. -They have a likable leader in Durant -Their big men play hard and aren't afraid to get their hands dirty -Their 2nd unit with Harden and Maynor plays scrappy defense -They look like they genuinely support each other It's not the players' fault that the owner is a douche for uprooting the franchise from Seattle.
Houston fans don't like Dallas Durant went to UT. And yes, there are alot of UT alumni It's Oklahoma City, pretty small market, underdog. Their fans seem really into their team.
In 2008, they had home-court advantage throughout the playoffs. Even so, they started out 1-1 in Round 3 against Detroit. In 2009, they were second seed, and had homecourt in both series, splitting both opening homestands 1-1. In 2010, they were fourth seed and had homecourt in the first round. Rounds 2 and 4, they split the opening away games 1-1, which is an accomplishment. They won both away games in Round 3 against a soft Orlando team. So, they hadn't been down 0-2, but they had a lot of homecourt advantage, and gave up homecourt advantage by going 1-1 at home a couple of times. Point being, being down 0-2 isn't much more dire than straits they've been in before.
I kinda liked the Thunder going into the playoffs, but the more I watch them the less I like them. I can't stand Harden and his stupid beard. I don't like Westbrook or Maynor. I don't like Collison and their super bright and ugly uniforms and court colors hurt my eyes. Also, is it just me or do the people in OKC look all the same. People hate the Heat so much I actually find myself rooting for them. Well, not really, but I don't like them any less than the Celtics, Hawks or Bulls. I'm probably gonna root for the Grizzlies as long as they're in the playoffs.
I'm starting to hate the Thunder too. I'm sure everyone loves them now, until we have to play them and they kick our asses all the time, how will you like them now? I'm starting to hate RussWes and his stupid shot selection. He's going to get his ass traded from OKC. But, I'd have to be a fan of theirs to give a damn. They're the darlings because they're not your "typical" super stars of the league. They're not primadonnas, and guys you can relate, I suppose. Just give them time before they become "that guy," There is also a lot of Orange Horn nut hugging here too. I'm kinda glad we don't have any, because then we would have to read about player X needing to play 60 minutes of the 48 minute game, despite going 0-50 from the field with 30 turnovers. I mean, he's an Orange! He can't do no wrong! And then we have to see 30 pictures in a thread, and stupid youtube videos, and stupid I think I can write lyrics to a song. Sure buddy. OKC is good, and I'm not going to cheer for a team that will beat my ass over and over. They did that in the 90s, and they're going to do it in the 2010s. I will never ever root for Dallas, San Antonio, Miami. The only team I can cheer for that is left is Memphis and Chicago. I don't think Memphis is going to be a big threat in the future, and Chicago hasn't done enough to hurt me/annoy the **** out of me. The Rose nut hugging from the Media is pretty strong though.
They are the young, clean-cut, darling, golden boys. Stern has more great plans for them. He already started this season by giving them +15 free throw advantage in every game.
Imangine if Lebron and Wade did this, 40 page thread? Durant, Westbrook had heated exchange http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports....ook-had-heated-exchange-during-game-4/related You don’t want to read too much into this — Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen argued, Larry Bird and Kevin McHale yelled at each other on occasion, Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant had… okay, the last one is a bad example. But according to TNT’s Pam Oliver, Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant had a heated exchange during Oklahoma City’s Game 4 loss Monday. It probably had something to do with Westbrook being a ball hog for the night — Westbrook had 30 points but took 30 shots to get there, putting up a Kobe-the-gunner line. Durant had 31 points, took just 18 shots, but wanted more. Westbrook has that in him, you see flashes during the season when he decided he wanted to take over but he is not efficient doing it. And he has Durant on the team, feed that guy the ball. That doesn’t mean the fight matters. Guys argue then forget about it and move on all the time. Part of the game, as both coach Scott Brooks and Durant told the Oklahoman. “It was all about trying to do the right thing,” Thunder coach Scott Brooks said. “We got to get a stop. That’s what it was about. We got to stop the ball. Their point guards are getting inside the paint. The bigs and the guards have got to do a better job of stopping the basketball. That’s what the conversation was about. “It’s funny because it’s in the playoffs on national TV, but it happens a lot. It doesn’t happen every timeout every game. But guys are emotional. Guys care about what we do and they express that and I like that. I do the same thing….” “We’ve been doing that all season,” Durant said. “That’s a part of a basketball team. You’re not going to always be happy all the time. … Sometimes you have to scream at guys for them to get the point. That’s what we were doing.” It doesn’t matter. Now, if they go at it again in a Game 5 loss at home Wednesday we can talk. But I don’t think we have to worry about that.
Shoot-first PG that can't win a title? I'd be worried about the Thunder shipping Westbrook out for Dwight. KD + Dwight combo would be scary.
westbrook is 22. and he has HUGE upside. he plays D. and he cares. this guy is going to be a superstar. if orlando knows they will lose dwight, getting westbrook would be huge. he'll make a HUGE jump next year regardless of where he is.
