Is today a double-header? If so, what time does the second game start?

    TIA!

There will be one tomorrow at 11:35 Central, if I'm not mistaken. Tomorrow's game was supposed to be played on Monday.

Maybe Mills trots Lyon out there for 2 blown saves.

When I looked at the score, I didnt have to guess many times to figure who gave up 3 in the 9th. Lyon is that predictable.

I came on to rant and rave. I mean really vent. But looking over the responses, I have to say that all of you said it all quite well. Good job everyone. Just hope Mills has the guts to make the right decision. If he doesnt, then we need somebody that will.

I do see good news in this though. Im glad it only took 30 games for this situation to hit the fan. It would have been worse if Lyon has done just good enough to keep the closer role until the all-star break or later. Now their is no doubt he isnt suited to the role and we can move on to find his replacement. Its too bad he has already cost us 3 or 4 games. Better than a whole season though.

Lyon is a good kid. We're sticking with him. We're not bringing in any other players. Gotta work through this and push through this and Lyon will be better because of it. As long as Lyon is battlefightin' his tail off out there, that's all I can ask for from him!

Mills changes pitchers way too much. 5 pitchers to get through 8 innings of 1 hit ball? Find the hot guy and stick with him. Someone is bound to have an off night when you make that many moves.

I hate this new era of pitching: where you need a right and left hand specialist and a 7,8 and 9th inning guy. WTF... these guys are all pitchers. They all need to be able to get outs in any situation or else they shouldn't be in the big leagues. Mills' decisions made absolutely no sense today. Why are you going to pull guys after one inning and one batter but reluctant to pull a guy out when he can't get one out?

He brought in Melancon in the 7th. He pitched to one batter, throwing 5 pitches. His spot in the order didn't come up in the 8th but Mills pulls him and puts in Fulchino. Not that Fulchino didn't do his job, but why? I'm sure Mill would tell you that Fulchino is their 8th inning guy and Lyon is their 9th inning guy. He probably brought in Melancon because he didn't want Abad the lefty to throw to right hander Ryan Hanigan. He's way too "by the book" and over-manages because of it.

Do we have any middle relief that can go 2 innings? I really think Mills doesn't like any reliever to go more than one inning. Sometimes he'll let them go 1 1/3. There have been only 3 times all season when a reliever has gone 2 full innings. One instance each of Lyon, Aneury, and Del Rosario. Lyon only did it because he blew a save and we'd already depleted our bullpen. Aneury and Del Rosario only did it because we were already getting our asses kicked. It's a pretty safe assumption that if we're winning a game and the starter goes only 5 innings, that we're using at least 5 pitchers.

Its possible he pulled Melancon, because he uses him so often and didn't want to work him more. I still can't believe he didn't trust Abad to get out Ryan Hanigan of all people. 2 run lead, bases empty, and Ryan Hanigan is batting, you really don't need to waste your best reliever at that point.

I didn't say to not get emotionally invested. I said not to get too emotionally invested as it can be bad for your health. If you let a stupid Astros game control your mood when you are not watching the Astros, then you are too emotionally invested imo. I just don't see the point in letting it get to you that much. We knew coming in we had a young team and there were going to be ups and downs. We knew chances were slim to none that we would go to the playoffs.

Yes, I was pissed for all of two minutes when I knew Lyon blew the game. But, I'm keeping it in perspective. I'm not going to let it affect my personal life.

There was a point in my life where I would let it get to me and affect my mood. But, SERENITY NOW!!! It's not worth letting your blood pressure sky rocket over imo. Or, maybe it is for some of you?

Surfguy, you're dead-on accurate about the perspective thing. It doesn't affect the rest of life in the least, and didn't put me in a bad mood. It's just a game. But concerning that game--I was pissed.

Precisely. By the 7th inning I was thinking, "this will be opening day all over again."

McTaggart echoes what she said. 30 minutes until first pitch...
