Honestly, I can at least stand Dirk now since he cut most of the flopping out of his game.

In a league dominated by multiple all-star / HOF players per team, these Mavs remind me a lot of the championship Rockets. so much of the offense at least starts through Dirk. They have solid, above average role players. Guys who can get really hot. Bench players who are solid and know their roles. Execution, execution, execution. And they play solid solid defense.

Not saying they'll win the championship, but beating the lakers - definitely possible. Getting to the finals? Sure. Winning title? Maybe.

And as much as I've hated the Mavs in the past, I wouldn't be too upset. That's how annoying the rest of the league has gotten.

I cannot think of too many players who have been able to shut down Dirk, it usually has to be a guy with long arms and at least decent on defense.

If he were a bit more aggressive in post, he could've easily been among some of the greatest players ever, I mean like in the conversation with Malone; Duncan; Barkley; and McHale.

Too much emphasis on lack of strong inside post game. His mid range post game is great. He's already better than McHale to me. Win a championship in today's NBA and he might just vault Barkley. Especially if he keeps going at this pace for a few years.

I'll admit, this is amazing by Dirk. He was honestly second in my MVP ballot behind Howard.

 

im starting to believe more in the article about kobe forcing his teammate to be better than they actually are. gasol is just horrible in this entire playoff

 

He's always been a good player, but to call him elite or great is too much. He's never been the type of player to take over a game or series.
