Depends on if you are Catherine kind of person, or if you prefer Katherine.

edit: Of course, the best solution is to have both. Uh...both consoles I mean.

PS3 is the way to go. Free PSN and comes with a blueray. If you want annoying little kids talking all sorts of mess with the free wireless headset xcrap comes with then go with the Xcrap.

As a new user deciding on a network, I would probably go with PSN. I mean after two weeks of revamping security, rebuilding servers, etc., it's probably the safest platform now.

Why do people think so highly of XBL anyway? All I hear about is the 12 year old cussing people out, the pedophiles soliciting kids, and the biggest racist/sexist/anti-semetic people ever. They give gamers a bad reputation.

They have 1st person shooters like COD on the PS3 too right? But I know most people play those on XBL anyways.....which is why I'm leaning towards the XBox360.

Do you guys know whats the cheapest place I can buy one?

    Amazon?

Yes they have all the same FPS on PS3 and more. I got mine from GameStop, but some people use eBay and Amazon.

Both if possible. Both have their pros and cons.

The PS3 offers free online play (I know I know don't say it) and has a built in blu ray player.

360 offers better games imo and the controller feels better.

I'd say go ahead and get the PS3. (I own a 360 and ONLY a 360.) I'm not sure how durable the 360's are now, but if they've made significant improvements, that sure would close the gap.

If you like FPS, it's an easy choice. Xbox 360 have the better exclusives in that genre and if you play more than 15 hrs of multi player FPS a week, get Xbox360.

PS3 has on the other hand, have some games that defies genres. Heavy Rain, Uncharted, Demon Souls, Last Guardian and etc. So if you're looking for experience beyond just point and shoot in games, PS3 have some really intriguing exclusives. XBox 360 has it also in games like Fable 3, but a lot less.

Another thing to keep in mind is if you have a decent PC rig, more of XBox 360 exclusives will port over than PS3 (does any PS3 Exclusives besides FF online ever get ported).

If you play more than 15 hrs of online games a week, get XBox 360 as the live service will be worth the $6 a month. If you are more casual about online gaming, than get a PS3 with free PSN.

Lastly, if you really like gaming, just get all three systems (I'm including Wii for mad world, no more heroes, and Nintendo's own IPs) and a gaming PC. If you are more casual, I would suggest PS3.

Most exclusives at this point are 1st part games. So only way to get a PC version is if Sony publishes it, or lets someone else publish it (yeah, that's not happening). With the exception of SOE (who is somewhat separate from the main gaming division), Sony hasn't published anything on the PC in a long time. Maybe since PS1 days I think. So you can pretty much count on all Sony games never making it to the PC. Which is actually kind of sad. Would be interesting to see what Naughty Dog, Polyphony, Team Ico, SSM, etc., could do with PC hardware.

Microsoft, on the other hand, does tend to publish several of their games on the PC. They stopped doing that for a while (probably because this was hurting the 360), but I get the impression that they're going back to publishing PC games.

This might make you the most satisfied.

On the whole, a blu ray player is nice to have. Games drop faster on the PS3 but is balanced out by some games being out later for it. On the other side, there are more value priced AAA 360 games just by its library size.

XBL is a better experience, but you need to know people to get the most out of it, which isn't that hard...

PS3: Hardware, media player w/ easy to upgrade computer HDDs
360: Overall multiplayer experience, FPS, "cheaper" upfront costs to play.

    Can't go wrong with either.

    This.

It was clear in the first couple years of PS3's life that 360 had a WAY bigger library of good games. That is not even close to true anymore.

Notice people on BOTH sides of the fence in this thread cite "better games." It's all subjective.

On that note... honestly, they're similar enough that the #1 factor should be what exclusives you care about the most. For example, off the top of my head, for the PS3 I love Uncharted, Valkyria Chronicles, Demon's Souls. 360 I love Tales of Vesperia, Gears of War, and Left 4 Dead. Personally, the PS3 exclusives tickle me more overall.

The one thing I'll say is if you plan to make whichever system you buy your primary multimedia machine, get the PS3. Besides having blu-ray, it upscales DVDs much better than 360 does.
