http://www.nytimes.com/reuters/2011...basketball-china-yao.html?partner=rss&emc=rss Best of luck to Yao in his attempt to come back as an Asian.
This confirms the rumor I heard from a very solid source -- Yao is applying for full-time US citizenship.
Theyd probably arrest him in China for deserting his national obligations after suffering a 'foot cramp'. Best of luck to the fragile giant.
As sad as it is to say, Yao should just completely retire from the game of basketball. He should just quit, and stop trying to come back. He's done. He should go get a job putting in lightbulbs somewhere. That's all his tall body is useful for now anyway.
If he ends up playing in September, this might be his only basketball for a while, given that there might not be a NBA season.
Yao loves the game and his country but big fella sometimes you have to be selfish, think of the future. I just hope for the best for him; i love you tall ****.
Are you serious? I mean, not to insult you if you are, but that's just something I can't really fathom. At all. I mean, Yao has clearly cared about China a lot, and that would be just ridiculous if true - like, I could see that being an international incident or something.
Stop playing for the national team.. they are treating him like a machine and not caring about his long term health. China is not gonna win the worlds even with yao so why not try to win it yourselves and when he is proven healthy.. have him as an added bonus
You know, I'm not sure I'd mind that from a "i'm a fan of Yao" standpoint. Sure, it'd suck bigtime if there was no season next year, but imagine if it meant we got back a well rested healthy Yao (wishful thinking), I'll watch the euroleague for a year if we could have a healthy Yao lol.
