With the Yao and McGrady era all but done, Rick Adelman fired, and management's intention of pushing the reset button clear as day, what do you guys think the Rocket's are going to do in the next 3-5 years? Does anyone else have a feeling that we're going to be mediocre for a while? Even with Morey at the helm, that's the feeling I get, since the Rockets' options are limited right now.

GMs around the league are smart now and lock up their all-star players at all costs, and even overpay fringe stars like Rudy Gay and Joe Johnson. Morey's only hope is to land a Randolph. We won't draft high enough as long as KMart and Scola are here, and even if we do, its not a guarantee we'll land a Durant or Rose. WHAT DO CLUTCHFANS?

I can't help but feel pessimistic about the Rocket's short- and mid- term future. Someone give me a reason to be optimistic, please.

Yeah, I feel the same way as you. We are in rebuilding process. After Yao and McGrady era, we just have to be patient and hope we can add some good players to the roster for next season. There are a lot of good names in free agency this summer so the Rockets should sign some of them and we will be fine. We also have nba draft coming up and we will get a good player from college. Don't worry, the Rockets will do everything we can to build a contender in short term. :)

Shane Battier even if he's a 12th man 38 year old scrub. He's a Rocket, damnit, not a Grizzly. Other than that, who knows. I've convinced myself Dwight Howard would fit perfectly here with a great group of guys, management clearly looking to win not just sell tickets, winning attitude despite lack of a superstar, and staying East with Chicago, Miami, and NY is a recipe for failure during his prime years. And Dream has some pull

Not going to "rebuild". This core will improve, probably win ~52 games next year and then well see what happens in 2012 FA.

    tall, explosive, athletic.

Think 5 guys on the court that play like Courtney Lee but a couple Bigger.

Like the 76ers but with better shooting.

In 5 years, we'll have made the playoffs 3 times and advanced out of the 1st round once or twice. We won't yet be considered perennial contenders, but we'll be very close.

The team will have 2 young stars and will be comprised of tall, athletic 2-way players. The bench will be made up of specialist players (3pt shooters, perimeter defenders, shot blockers).

We will have 2 coaches throughout that time, but the second coach will be the one that ultimately gets our team to the Finals (down the road).

The future of the Rockets is bright. Unfortunately, we will have some growing pains to get back to championship form.

In 3 - 5 years, Morey's rebuilding will be complete. Yao, Martin, and Scola will be long gone.....We will have at minimum a bigtime defensive presence down low and Kyle Lowry will be leading a perennial contender.

As long as Morey is here we're gonna be either a 1st round playoff exit or a team that barely misses the playoffs. We're not gonna suck but we're gonna be nowhere near the elites either

Three seed in the West is our ceiling, behind OKC and Memphis. 5-8 seed in the playoffs is the more likely scenario.

While Memphis is playing well.. they aren't contenders. Dark Horse yes, but not contenders.
