Is it? I don't trust them for all of the RROD failures from Gen1. I don't know a single person who bought one out of the gate and didn't have issues. Loss of credibility on Microsoft's part.
Yes, any made 2005 to Summer of 2008, EVERY 360 will eventually fail because of a design flaw. That's why MS extended the warranty for 3 years on each. Fall of 2008 brought the Jasper chipset redesign that basically fixed the problem. Summer of 2010 brought the total redesign to the 360 slim, which brought a Single chip design which runs much cooler. Very few issues with this design. You will find more Yellow Light of Death PS3/Bluray problems for the PS3 than problems with the new 360 design.
PS3 had a huge Yellow Light of Death issue as well. Besides. Everyone got free Xbox's back if they RRODed.
if you are able to hack the either system then get that one MY OPINION ON BOTH SYSTEM Xbox 360 - i would be lying if xbox network sucks. 1. You have to pay to play online (great service 'cause you have to pay) 2. Good for FPS (first person shooter) 3. No Blu-ray 4. Everyone has a mic when you play online (you hear alot of trash talking and cursing) 5. I believe more of your friends have xbox 6. Achievements PS3 1. Free online 2. YLOD (yellow light of death) 3. PSN will have issues (since it's free) 4. Come w/Bluray 5. Exclusives and offline games 6. trophies instead of achievements I have a ps3 myself. I'm not an online gamer myself. So the PSN issues is not affecting me. if you're a offline gamer buy a PS3. xbox is more of an online system
I got to this gen of consoles late as well and I also have no experience or interest in online gaming. PS3 was the obvious choice for me for a few reasons: Fable and probably Gears of War are the only 360 games that interest me. Zelda and probably Metroid are the only Nintendo games that interest me. Online is free with PSN, so it's there should I ever decide to use it, but in the meantime I'm not paying for a service I'm really not interested in anyway. Everything I play (or want to play) is PS-exclusive or cross-platform: God of War, KillZone, Uncharted, Ico/Colossus/Last Guardian (when it comes out). PS3 was the easy choice for me.
Not so rock solid.... http://m.kotaku.com/343152/microsoft-says-xbox-live-outage-due-to-server-strain
I had both. Sold my 360 to buy a new graphics card for my pc. Still have my ps3....never play it though. $60 for games....consoles fail.
rough breakdown: XBOX- better multiplayer FPS games PS3- better single player RPG games What kind of games you play should dictate which system you get. I'm a PC gamer first, console gamer second. The reason I ended up getting PS3 is main for the exclusive games, aka games that will NEVER be available on PC. The Xbox games are almost always released for PC, albeit a delayed release in some cases.
Made this decision myself 6 months ago; went with a PS3. Although I am upset about the PSN being down, i don't play online as often for it to really affect my life. Most people who seem upset about it are people who have alot more time than I do and are online most of the time with their games. I bought it for the free online play (i picked up NBA 2k11 with it, which is why I knew i'd be online playing people and didn't wanna pay extra to be online). I also liked the catalog of games better (Metal Gear series was big for me, God of War and more are great too) and I was a previous Playstation 2 owner so I was already used to the simple controls. XBOX controllers have always had too many buttons for my liking. On top of that, I use the free internet to browse youtube and atdhe.me and other p2p sports sites on the internet and full screen it on my TV which is awesome. I also made it pick up the media centers off my desktop PC (since they're all on the same network) so I can stream music/movies/pictures right from my desktop to the PS3. Also PS3 seems to play any movie format I throw at it so far, so that's been nice. I also like that it has USBs, because I charge stuff like phones on it and throw stuff on my USB flash drive like movies and plug it in to watch. And the Bluray player is nice too, plus they just released a software update to make the PS3 compatible with 3D bluray movies and 3D games. Safe to say I haven't regretted my decision. Bought a slim one off of craigslist from some teenager lookin to buy a car; sweetest deal ever, $150 bucks for the system, Call of Duty Modern warfare, God of War III and some blurays.
These threads are so repetitive. Just post the Exclusives Games With Meta Rating of 80+ List and be done with it. It's tiresome seeing a bunch of 360 fanboys pretending they still have games and trying to get some poor sap to buy their mediocre console so he can share their misery.
I have a PS3. I don't play online or multi player games. I needed an extra quality Blu Ray player. In fact, I hardly game anymore. But when I do, it's only to play great games like the ones Lynus302 mentioned (Shadow of the Colossus, Ico) in addition to: -Metal Gear -Gran Turismo -Red Dead Redemption -Uncharted That being said, I will borrow a friend's 360 to play its exclusives.
For me.... Xbox: controller and Xbox live. Ps3: Blu Ray player Winner: Xbox. However the rest of the playstation is wayyyyyy better.
