I would consider this guy, especially if he's still around when we pick #38 http://www.nbadraft.net/players/keith-benson
Hi i'd be more than happy if we land Kawhi Leonard & Jordan Hamilton with our first rounders ... i dont see any 7' defensive C in this draft so i hope we'll adress this need via a trade
Two under the radar big men who may go undrafted: Reggie Johnson: 6'10 300lbs sophmore Good rebounder/ has already worked on losing weight in school/ **has/is taking dance classes to help with his footwork** Mike Dunigan: 6'10 253lbs 21yrs old Has already played overseas before coming back to play in college/ good shotblocker/ has a good shooting touch.
Here is a good game by Reggie Johnson against Duke. <iframe width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/zEzR6C3mZW4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Strong inside presence and pretty good footwork. He could definitely learn from Hayes and Patterson.
Dude has a beast of a body. You know Daryl has all these guys scouted hard, especially the C's. I hope he takes a shot at a legitmate C and hits the jackpot. We need it desperately.
Guys, i think i have found our hidden gem if he stays in the draft!!! Can't believe this kid is not on any mock draft boards and may go undrafted. If he stays in school for one more year, he would be a lock to go in the 1st round if not the lottery! He shows his entire game in this vid!! Morey, i hope you're watching this kid. <iframe width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/I5RCVSgnohA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Big Reg!
Reggie averages 18 points and 15 rebounds per 40 minutes... WOW at that rebounding rate. 2 blocks too. He looks and plays like a C version of Zach Randolph...
The two knocks on Johnson in the past were his conditioning and getting in foul trouble. But he has already started working on that by losing 40lbs during the offseason after his 1st season and started his 2nd season in much better shape. He has kept it up by taking those dance classes that i mentioned earlier, which btw, was a genius idea. He can learn from the pros about staying out of foul trouble. As you saw in the vid, he has already developed good post moves and has shown somewhat of a shot from 12-15 feet( still needs practice ). I feel that he will not keep his name in the draft, which would be a good idea financially because i feel that he would go in the 1st next year. I just feel that he could contribute right away in the league.
Here is some light reading about SF prospects. http://www.nba.com/2011/news/features/david_aldridge/04/18/big-board-small-forwards/index.html Power forward prospects had a few names that have been mentioned here (Vesely, Donatas, and Biyombo). http://www.nba.com/2011/news/features/david_aldridge/05/02/big-board-power-forwards/index.html Donatas sort of sounds like soft diva. I am not sure what to think of newcomer like Bismack, but I like that he shows leadership and passion. Website says on centers should arrive in upcoming weeks.
I see alot of people here like Bismack Biyombo, but when I watch the playoffs and the see Z Bo, banging, Gasol banging against Chandler and Haywood, could you see a 6'9 dude banging with those guys? He might be a good weak side defender but being a one on one defender is very important especially in the west.
Yes, a 6'9 guy with the wingspan and athleticism (and strength) of a guy like this can definitely bang with centers like that. People have made comparisons of Bismack with Ben Wallace (similar height/weight, limited offensive game, shot-blocker and defender). Ben Wallace was listed at 6'9 (more like 6'7-6'8), 240 lbs with a long wingspan and a high motor defender (and also an excellent one on one defender as well). If we draft Bismack and he becomes a poor man's Wallace I'd be happy. And just to remind people about how good Big Ben was: <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/QuivG44plqQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
So was Dirk when he came into the league. Players that tall that start out as small forwards tend to migrate to the PF position once they get a little older and their body's fill out. So calling him a PF prospect is probably not off target regardless of what position he currently plays.
Vesely is a SF and is not remotely like Dirk in any way. He is clearly a SF and NBA.com looks foolish for listing him as a PF. He is an athletic freak of almost unmatched levels and he is no more than 210-215 in weight, no matter that bogus 240 listing nba.com gives. Vesely is no more a PF than Kevin Durant is. If Vesely is a PF then so is Durant.
Durant's handles and shooting ability >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Vesely's.
