Interesting stuff about early reviews for the film and the post credit scene.....

"Thor" has screened for British and Australian press in the last few days, along with a few select American genre press. From that, word has leaked out about the post-credits scene in the film which sounds like it ties-in directly to "The Avengers". Here's a description via Movie Stinger:

"In the scene Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) travels to New Mexico to meet with Dr. Selvig (Stellan Skarsgard). He is there to discuss recent discoveries Selvig has made regarding alternate universes. He is also there to get Selvig's advice about a large metal case, which contains the Tesseract/Cosmic Cube. When Selvig asks what it is, Fury responds that it is a source of immense power. The camera than pans back to Selvig, and a reflection reveals that Selvig is now being possessed by Loki (Tom Hiddleston), who says: "That's very interesting"."

Meanwhile reviews have started popping up online and there's a consistency among them. Critics have raved about Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston's performances and praised Kenneth Branagh's direction. Criticisms include some choppy editing especially around the Earth-bound scenes, and the weak romance between Thor and Natalie Portman's underwritten female lead. Reaction's aren't close to "Iron Man" or "The Dark Knight" enthusiastic, but the general consensus is Marvel seems to have done well - something akin to "The Incredible Hulk" quality. I see the film for myself this Friday and will review it then.

Full reviews can be found at Hitfix, The Vine, Den of Geek, Variety, IGN, The Hollywood Reporter and Empire.

I just saw it and I was pleasantly surprised. The trailers don't do the movie justice. The Asgard scenes were visually stunning. I thought it would be chessy but it was well made.

93% on RottenTomatoes off 57 reviews. I'm surprised.

Not sure why you guys are such skeptics. When was the last time Marvel Studios turned out a stinker?

i'm happy with the reviews. I was worried about it as well because let's be honest, it did looks iffy from early trailers.

Oh had to look that up. Guess those other movies were co-productions while Thor/Iron Man/Hulk and any future productions are independent.
