I recall there was some reports that in the summer said the Rockets were exploring trading Kevin Martin for Joe Johnson in order to satisfy Chris Bosh's desire to be paired with a superstar.

Most people were against it, I think, especially after learning that Joe Johnson was getting the max. What do you think now?

I'd consider Johnson at equal contract value, but honestly with the contracts as they are, Martin is EASILY the winner.

Also having to pay max contracts to JJ and Bosh, it would've set this franchise into a consistent 1st and 2nd round exits for the next 5-7 years, I am really happy we did not get stuck with that.

Johnson doesn't deserve the max. But if he came here with a mid-sized contract. I'd definitely want him on this team. He's nothing outstanding offensively, but he has a decent mid-range game and he's an aggressive defender.

He'd be an upgrade over Martin in that you'd sacrifice offensive dominance for a more balanced player.

Depends on the system. But I think Terrence Williams can be as good as Johnson one day....if he puts the work in...and thats a BIG IF

I would take Martin, nice offensive value, and not expensive.

and I agree about having to pay Bosh and Johnson max contracts, wouldnt help the rockets a lot.

While Joe is more of a balance player, he is not a superstar but an all star caliber. Bosh is the same way. I would love for those guys on this team but for the max? No way I would pay either one of them the max.

Kevin Martin is playing great for the money he's earning. He is a more dominant scorer than Johnson but Joe is better all around. Joe is overall better than Martin but not by a large margin. But he is earning more money than Lebron and Wade etc... Maybe if Joe was younger and has the potential to become a great player, this is no competition but the contract situation and the way Kevin Martin has been scoring makes this one a tough choice.

But I like Martin on this team and I feel like Joe wouldn't help this team out much and that if Joe was to be on this team, his contract will haunt this franchise in the future and trust me, Bosh isn't coming here even if Joe signed here in Houston. Bosh and Lebron both pretty much knew they were going to sign with Miami way before the free agency.

Hopefully next year they will be able to make it in the playoffs. It kills me that the Grizzlies are wrecking havoc right now in the playoffs and I know damn well Houston will steam roll the Grizzlies if we face them in the playoffs.

Martin has only been to the playoffs once, coincidence?

At their current contracts.... I'd definitely take Martin, and it's not even close.

If you gave them equal contracts, I'd take Joe Johnson.

Martin dollar for dollar. More production, less money. Enough less to sign another solid starter.

i picked Martin, i wonder how well the Hawks would be if they played over here in the west and Rockets go over to the east, would both teams be in the same situation they are at now but in different shoes? hmmmmm

Joe Johnson has demonstrated that he's still got a third option mentality despite getting his max money. He takes an alarming number of nights off where the lack of effort is disturbing.

Right now, even with money aside, Martin is honestly the better player.

Johnson and Bosh would be a ghetto version of Anthony and Amare, i.e, a 40 win team in the west.

I'd say Johnson is a better player than KMart but not worth max money at all.

I'd rather have the ball in JJ's hands in clutch situations. JJ makes his teammates better than Martin does. Martin is injury prone.

But I'll stick with Martin, just because he's so damn efficient and I want to see him paired with a big man someday.

Considering what each are getting paid, most definitely Martin. Its not like Johnson is going to make an all defensive team.
