Grizzlies: Did y'all, did y'all hear our leader is Zach Randolph?

I can't wait till Gasol and Randolph start pounding on Scola and Landry. It's gonna be a beautiful thing. 50 points, 24 boards in the paint. We'll beat yall by 10.

 

Why the heck does this guy have positive rep? I've give you a bajillion negative rep if I could just for stupidity.

 

At any rate I must admit the Grizz have become a decent team thanks to the Gasol-Randolph combo. Those two guys are amazing together, and are effectively masking the fact that the Grizz took probably the worst player in last year's draft at the No. 2 spot.

I have always been high on Gasol (and couldn't understand why the Grizz didn't give up on Conley jr and got a real franchise pg), but to see Randolph passing the ball and playing within the system is IMHO nothing short of a miracle. I mean, the guy didn't even play nice when the Jailblazer era ended and Mcmillan and Brandon Roy arrived, and he certainly didn't pass the ball when he had Camby and Baron Davis in Clipperland. Hollins must be one hell of a coach. Now if they could only unload Rudy Gay for a wing who isn't a defensive liability....

The Grizz have now won 11 of their last 18 games. A dozen more wins, and they'll prove Starbury right:

Getting a defensive back up wing to complement Gay's offense might be a practical alternative. Gay is playing better this year,since Randolph has joined them.

I caught the Griz. vs. Boston game and the Griz were looking decent. Normally I'd say they've found a decent core and will be competitive in the future. But we are talking about a GM that traded Pau Gasol for Kwame Brown and an owner that is actually below the salary floor (loophole, loophole), a dangerous combination.

 

Everyone has a right to their opinion as long as the Clutch Crew feels they are within the rules of the forum. I want him to be proven wrong by our guys,but he wasn't insulting.

I will say this that I've been around these boards since the very beginning. Actually I used to frequent a board before this one sprung up called the Launch Pad, as I was a rockets fan from about 1985 to 1996. After Hakeem retired and they brought in francis and mobley, I really don't care for them.

I became a Memphis fan when I moved to Memphis.

Few people know that the Launch Pad was probably the first true houston rockets fan board. If memory serves, that guy came out before clutch's board did.

 

This is by design. They want to be well below the cap in order to profit from teams that want to get under it. Their owner discovered that gate receipts and team success don't really matter if : you're making a ton on luxury tax payments and other teams will reward you handsomely for taking care of their trash.

That's why no matter how promising Gasol and Mayo looks there is no way the Grizzlies will achieve success unless their owner changes priority. Sooner or later whatever nice pieces that Grizz has picked up will be moved for $$$ moves. Moneyball indeed

As for this other Memphis fan - I understand wanting to defend your team. I understand that he's excited about some of the young talent Memphis has acquired (though doesn't Gay look like he may bolt?), but to assert that Memphis is going to be ahead of Houston in the standings for the next ten years would be crazy even if they were ahead of us in the standings right now. Which they aren't. I honestly believe we have the best GM in basketball. If I had to choose between a great GM and even a player of Lebron's caliber, I think I'd take the GM. Your team will never go anywhere if it isn't managed well. Which is why a small market team like San Antonio has been such a power house over the last decade.

Memphis, on the other hand, isn't so well managed. I don't know why you guys are picking on this guy so hard though. I just feel bad for him. It's gotta be hell to be a Grizzlies fan. At least the Rockets have won championships and have, by and large, always been a competitive team. The Grizzlies have only made the playoffs once. OUCH.

 

Try to get out of last place in the division before you start talking trash.
