How hard is it for Christians to actually understand what the Bible says regarding the end times. There are clues, but the clues are kinda vague and many have been going on since the books were written.

    As Madmax already pointed out:

"Like a thief in the night."

Why is it that people ignore the history of how these religios texts were created and look for crap like "The secret code" or an end of times prognostication?

I mean the Mayan's predicted the end, yet couldn't see their own collapse.

Why are people so ****ing stupid that they believe this bull****?

There's a Church of Christ here in Flower Mound that has had a quote up on their billboard for the past week that's been creeping me out. It says "2011 - God is ready to take you to Heaven", or something like that. I wonder if it's referencing this belief?

The mayans didn't predict the end as in the end of time as we know it, they merely predicting a life cycle starting over like a chapter in a book turning. They viewed time as taking place in ever repeating cycles. But yah, the sentiment is shared.

May 21st, 2011 marks the beginning, people disappearing is our only sign?

My Bday is the 19th of May, if **** looks to be going to hell you better believe ima be partying.

The funny thing is a lot of people tend to forget that the bible has stories that are also in other religions.

What are y'alls opinions on ancient mythology really being evidence of godly beings ruling our earth in the past?

Interesting read, didn't know where to post, I guess this absurd thread deserves the article.

NASA names 2012 most absurd movie ever

NASA officials have named 2012 — the apocalyptic disaster flick released in 2009 —the silliest and most scientifically flawed film.

The honours were bestowed on the John Cusack movie at a conference in California recently by NASA and members of the Scientific Entertainment Exchange. And while 2012 took the top spot, there were many other contenders on the list.

The Day After Tomorrow, The Sixth Day, Armageddeon, The Core and The Volcano were also singled out for their scientific shortcomings.

2012, NASA says, is the worst of the bunch. The film tells the story of the end of the world, as forecasted by the Mayan calendar which ends Dec. 21, 2012.

“The filmmakers took advantage of public worries about the so-called end of the world as apparently predicted by the Mayans of Central America, whose calendar ends on December 21, 2012,” said NASA senior researcher Donald Yeomans, to an Australian newspaper.

“The agency is getting so many questions from people terrified that the world is going to end in 2012 that we have had to put up a special website to challenge the myths. We have never had to do this before.”

One of the biggest issues with the film was its use of neutrino particles, which 2012 depicts as being carried to the Earth on solar flares, causing earthquakes, hurricanes and tsunamis. NASA says that while neutrino particles do exist and have interacted with radio waves, they cannot interact with physical substances.

The Day after Tomorrow was panned for its depiction of an accelerated global warming. Armageddon, which received NASA support -- something the agency now regrets -- also made the list.

The Core (which had asked for Yeomans to consult on the film, but was declined after he saw the script) was criticized for its depiction of the Earth’s core. The Core was at the top of the list until 2012’s release.

It wasn’t all bad news, though. The government agency did give praise to films that managed to get the science right — namely Blade Runner, Gattaca and Jurassic Park.

It is stated in the Bible that the end of the world is UNKNOWN and if that anyone tries to say a certain is the end, then it is probably not

Wow really, that movie was not accurate and full of scientific flaws. What a shock.

Why would NASA even make such a statement, only an idiot would think that that movie was realistic.
