Lakers were a 40 wins team without Pau or Bynum
Memphis were a 20 wins team with Pau.

How was this lopsided? At most Lakers won 20 more games with Pau, Memphis won 27 more games with Marc and Z-Bo.

It's call a win-win trade. Should Pau remain a Grizzle, they'd still be a lottery team.

I cant believe this thread is 8 pages long. Anyone with a real brain knows that LA got the best out of that deal. We're not talking about how the trade looks good now because the way Memphis is playing right now,we're talking about at the time it happen.

What exactly do the Rockets have to do with whether or not that trade was one-sided? You guys are winning, that's chill, nobody's debating whether or not the Rockets are better than the Grizzlies in this thread.

If you don't care (read: concede), feel free to stop posting in this thread. If you still want to, please be on topic and please be prepared to post a rebuttal once your arguments have been shredded apart instead of pulling the "my-team-is-better-than-yours" card, as if that somehow nullifies every dissenting opinion.

Why brought up 2006-2007 Grizzlies only? How about 2004-2005-2006 when Pau's Grizzlies won more games than Kobe's Lakers?
Since the Pau Gasol trade Lakers has been to the NBA Finals 3 consecutive times and fourth is coming. That is a major Win situation for the Lakers.
Yes the Grizzlies opted for rebuilding and it took them more than 4 years to this year stage. Agreed it looks more so lopsided now but we are taking about Z-Bo here, who knows next season they will screw up again and win 20 games?

Point is they should have asked other teams first and started a bidding war. No offer was better because no offer was made to the other teams. Also they didn't have to pick another trade partner, if they were dead set on Kwame Brown and his huge expiring they could have traded for Andrew Bynum and/or Odom in the trade as well. Odom was still young at the time of the trade (28?) and they could have flipped him to another team if they didn't want him.

LOL at what. This isn't a Rox vs Memphis thread, a lot of the rational posters here are actually on your side and saying your team got jobbed. It doesn't matter what forum you go to, go post in Spurstalk or Lakersnet and they'll all say Memphis got raped in the deal.

Too bad Jazz did not learn from genius example of Grizzlies.

Rockets could have Deron, and Jazz could have Yao's expiring, rights to Lull, and 2 junky picks!

Sampson played a lot like Dirk/KG/Pau. He could play C, but he also had no problems playing the 4 spot beside Hakeem.

Don't forget the 2nd rounder the Jazz would also have to give us as compensation for our 2 junky picks ;)

Lakers without Gasol, they are eliminated before the Clippers
    Lakers with Gasol: 2 titles.

If you want to judge trades by how the players panned out, then the Kobe for Divac trade, is 1-sided.

Do you seriously believe that after the trade, Lakers and Grizzlies should INSTANTLY become EQUAL? The Lakers' team was stacked from the get go. Is Memphis winning now the result of the trade? Most probably, imho.

A 40- win team was stacked, eh? Interesting theory.

If we traded Brad Miller for Dwight Howard, don't you think we'd be contenders?
