I think AT&T starts capping bandwidth tomorrow, and I'd like to monitor how much I use. I seriously doubt that I'll come close to the limit, but I still want to monitor my usage, so any recommendations for a simple utility for bandwidth tracking would be appreciated.

    AT&T tracks your sandwich usage.

Just drop AT&T and get your internet service from someone who doesn't cap bandwith.

Doesn't really exist. All the major players do. Comcrap & ATT, who else left is there that's really high speed and doesn't cap bw?

To answer the original question though, they say they'll be keeping track of it too in the member center or something like that. I remember reading the FAQ for ATT's garbage policy a week or so ago.

Comcast does it too. But supposedly they loosely enforce it. I don't want to take a chance.

I have Time Warner in Austin and they don't cap bandwidth, not sure what the deal is in Houston but I remember a few years back they proposed this and shelved it due to all the customer protest.

Do you have a router? Some routers have that feature built in, if it's enabled.

I've gone over the limit several months in a row with Comcast before... not even a slap on the wrist :)

    Feel free to torrent away.

I track my bandwidth thru my router. Cox has a cap on their service, and the connection blows when you go over. Cox was incorrectly calculating my bandwidth usage as it turned out. I kept having huge spikes on one day each month, despite my usage not changing. It wasn't matching what was flowing thru my router. They didn't believe me until there was one day with 120 GB, when I wasn't using the internet at all (Christmas Eve) and then on another day I had 0 usage despite streaming Netflix the whole day.
