Considering this thread is 7 pages now with your post I assume a lot of people care.

Considering this thread is 7 pages long, you would think the Grizzlies were in the finals.

Its funny. I suggested Randolph being a option at PF for us and got flamed. The general consensus was he was a "ball hog" and didn't play any D. Now that he destroyed the spurs now the majority of clutchfans approves. What a difference a year makes:rolleyes:

34 and 10 today...He had 24 and 10 mid-way through the 3rd qtr...He scored 12 straight pts to stop the Thunder when OKC was making their run in the 2nd half...Perkins couldn't hold him, Ibaka couldn't hold him, Collison couldn't hold him, and they weren't foolish enough to put Mohammad or anyone else on him. Those who hated and said they would ignore him when I first started this thread can continue to do so, but Zach Randolph - A Man of the People - is putting his mark on this NBA post-season whether you like it or not.

I do not think anything can stop Zach Randolph right now, except maybe a scandal with drug and hookers. But, on a more serious note, I'm glad to see him turn his career around at this stage. The turning point in his career, I think is when Memphis signed him and he came to airport and there was legion of fans there to support him coming to Memphis.

I do not think it is impossible for the Grizzlies to get the Finals. They've got a duo who can certainly matched the Lakers or Mavs. Randolph may not be as well rounded as Gasol, but plays with alot more intensity and is far better a go-to-player on offense. Hard to say, how he matches up against Dirk. Bynum might be a slight shade better Gasol, but it is almost an evenly balanced matchup.

While, the rest of Grizzlies have alot of youthful wings and plucky vets who can defend (like Allen and Battier). This team could easily be challenging for a title.

Z-Bo is lucky that he has Battier to do the heavy lifting...

No offense Jim, but that's ridiculous. Are you not capable of watching games with your own eyes and making an evaluation of a player? Do you really solely rely on a player getting past the first two rounds for him to make an impression on you? I hope you never thought of McGrady and Yao as superstars, as they routinely failed to make it past the first round.

Zach's a cancer, bad for the team --> Zach's a career loser, never led his team to playoffs --> Zach won't beat the #1 seed --> beat the Thunder and then I'll be impressed --> ....

Zach Randolph might just be the best PF in the NBA. He is a superstar and he's arrived -- apologies to those still trying to cling to their "career loser/cancer" thoughts. You were wrong.

It's getting ridiculous...At this rate, Z-BO will have to win multiple championships and mvp awards before some people begrudgingly give him some respect and credit.

I'm no Zach supporter, but you are heavily biased. Battier isn't the only player who is doing the heavy lifting. Gasol is their main defender. Conley has made a big impact with his play. Allen, and Sam Young are doing the dirty work along with Shane.

Is there still a debate as to whether Randolph is a great PF?

When Chuck Hayes has trouble guarding someone, he must be good.

I don't think you realize the impact that Battier has had.

Battier improves ZBo's defense in the post by guarding his man on the perimeter while also mind-guarding Z's man in the post. He improves his rebounding by telling Z where to go for the best statistical chance by sending coded messages through blinks and eye signals.

Further, he has helped ZBo offensively by being such a target in the post (did you hear Hubie say that Battier is a threat with his left or right hand in the post? Hall of Fame coach, there) for other teams to double or triple team during their practice scenarios (they don't double and triple him in the games because they are so tired at that point). So, really, the only way Battier might not be helping is in tips on how to rock the headband.

Before Battier ZBo was putting up solid numbers but that was on a non-playoff team. For a playoff team his 20 and 12 would be more like 7 and 9. After Battier, the Grizz are championship contenders so ZBos 20 and 12 are more like 45 and 23 on a playoff team. That also makes hi afrormentioned 7 and 9 for a playoff team more like 3 and 5 for a championship contender.

    So to sum up

    Before Battier - 3 and 5
    After Battier - 45 and 23

    That is a HUGE difference.

Battier has been a key player for Memphis but Zach Randolph is the more important player for Memphis.

Oh yeah? Time for your to eat crow.

Still think he's Shareef Abdur-Rahim? Still think he won't have much playoff time to prove whether he can perform in the post-season? A "serious contender" may not ever want him, but he knocked out a so-called "serious contender" in the first round and has transformed his team into a contender.

Brah, let it go. You're making Zach look bad via affiliation and a little gay.

ZBo is on his own crusade against the haters, and he's not talking because his actions are saying everything.

Z-Bo with 21 and 21 and, by his standards, he didn't even play that well. You heard the announcer...only played in the entire league to average 20 and 10 for the past 3 seasons...Bow down because you're in the presence of greatness
