Yeah me too. Then I remembered that after 6 seasons we all as an audience have watched fancy new Beasley sorta blossom before our eyes. I guess I felt owed whatever they said as stupid as that sounds. I would have preferred Dwight as Mike's last goodbye since Dwight has been solid the entire run of the series. Michael Scott has always been about making friends, and Dwight's been that for the whole time.
I think the boss/secretary relationship was always a very strong one between them, during the first few seasons of the show Pam was the one who always kept him in line and knew his quirks better than anyone else in the office, she was also the only one who stood by Michael when he left Dunder Mifflin to start the Michael Scott Paper Company I think Pam or Dwight were the 2 choices to go with for the last goodbye, and I thought they did it well
i will start by saying im a huge will ferrell fan, but... bringing him on for these last few episodes really took the focus off where it should have been, which is on michael leaving. all the screen time ferrell got could have been spent on tying up (thats what she said) the dwight/michael relationship. and michael/ryan. and michael/toby. it seems like laziness on the part of the producers/writers - instead of coming up w/ some great material on already established characters, one of whom is leaving the show forever, they allow ferrell to come in and do his thing. we got nothing resolved wrt the fact that michael is secretly gay for ryan and/or wants to be him. and nothing resolved w/ michaels intense hatred for toby. those are two series-long plotlines that both got swept under the rug. there was so much potential with both of those sub-plots to do something really funny and they BLEW IT!
Uhh, I've never once thought that. I appreciate them not going down that path.. that's just weird. And what exactly did you want to resolve with Toby? He hates his guts, it's great that he doesn't try to make friends with him in the end. I loved Michael's last show.. he had an incredible run and I already miss him on that show. Is there any word on who the new replacement is?
They handled the Toby/Michael relationship by showing that Toby's relative (brother? cousin? can't remember) lives in Boulder, CO and will be "looking him up" when he gets to town. The punchline being that even when Michael moves halfway across the country from Toby, he still can't truly get rid of him.
Because Michael wasn't that at all! But I agree, I don't think Ferrell is really right for the role after all, and he'll be gone in another week or two. He comes off like he's hiding something.
Exactly. Watching the two facetime eachother was hilarious since they were pretty much the same haha.
how do you miss that? michael's love for ryan started episode 1 season 1. ryan's FIRST day basketball, choosing ryan over dwight the cold open where michaels staring at ryan the dundies... HOTTEST IN THE OFFICE award ALL OF SEASON 4 where michael misses ryan so much and feels 'dumped' by ryan giving ryan a second chance to work at dunder mifflin choosing ryan to be part of michael scott paper company THE LIST GOES ON AND ON...
michael's diary where they confused ryan as a woman because michael expressed his love for ryan so much, toby bursting into laughter during the deposition "just as hot as Jan, but in a different way" the list goes on and on!
Haha, well I guess when you stack it up like that it's pretty apparent. I always felt that Michael looked at Ryan like a son, like he could do no wrong.
do you really think that or are you just messing around? Seriously, there is no way Michael is gay. I don't think the writers ever considered that possibility in all their writing. That never occurred to me, and I knew all the moments you just referenced. It's just a guy really wanting to impress the young, good-looking guy in the office at many different times. He always thought Ryan was really cool because of his style, his look, his youth.
and you guys call yourselves fans of The Office jo mama used the word gay the same way michael uses the word gay.... very loosely you bunch of faggies
it doesnt matter what you thought - they made several references to michael having some weird attraction to ryan from the very first season. michael referred to ryan as "hot", called him the "office tease" when he went and spoke to ryans class and the episode where jan tried to sue the company - in michaels diary they thought he was talking about a girl named ryan who he thought was hot...i remember toby snickering off to the side when he figured it out. EDIT: royals ego has my back - great minds think alike! (thats what she said) of course it is weird, and thats what makes it so funny.
ok - for the record i dont believe michael is gay. i dont believe the writers wanted to make him gay...but he was obviously attracted to ryan in some odd way and there were multiple references to it. i always thought it was a funny side-plot in the series. i didnt realize my comments would get some of you nancies so riled up! my main point was that i thought brining on ferrell for carrells last few episodes took away from what the focus should have been on. the whole thing felt kind of rushed - cut out ferrells scenes and they could have done more w/ michael. im surprised they didnt do a wedding - i guess since they already did a wedding episode they didnt want to do another.
Will hasn't been funny since he came on to the show, but i thought he was finally getting it rolling the last episode. Or I thought he was funny. People forget, it took them a short first season before Steve and the cast started to get the ball rolling.
Doesn't will ferrel turn out to be the scranton strangler? Or is it will arnett? I forget but jim carey...yes!
