Should have taken Jarrell Powe with value at nose tackle in the 5th round. Yates is a complete waste of a pick.

I think the entire North Carolina roster is going to end up getting drafted.

Mel and especially Dilfer really want to sex this guy. And I won't lie the breakdown of his pocket presence and release was kinda impressive,

matt schaub is happy...he is no longer the slowest qb. Yates posted a 5sec 40.

for those claiming wasted pick...it's a 5th rounder, let's not be too dramatic.

Orlovsky's time is fading and i dont see Leinart sticking around for too long either. Get Yates into the system with minimal pressure and allow him to develop the next year or 2.

WOW the ESPN guys, especially Dilfer, loves them some TJ Yates. Kiper has some nice things to say about the kid too.

his awkward and quick side release reminds me of aaron rodgers. doesn't need to bring the ball all the way back and just sling it.

I disagree. With the way defenses are going after QBs, your starter is one play away from being on IR. Gotta have some kinda of good insurance - and no Orlovsky and Leinart do not qualify.

I think we are one of the few teams where ESPN has broken down and analyzed each one of our picks along with a video package

the guy has the tools and is an accurate passer but never just seemed to break through and have that big year.

I'm going to go ahead and say he is going to be the next Tom Brady ;)

why is he worthless? Did the Texans become a team different from the rest of the NFL where backup and future QB's don't matter suddenly?

I love the people complaining about a 5th round pick.

The odds of any of these people contributing are a crap shoot at best.

I think they did it to save money. Replacing Orlovsky and/or Leinart with this kid will save them 2-3m.

Kubiak just couldn't resist the urge to reach for such a "good kid" with a knack for "battlefighting".

Unbelievably boneheaded pick in the 5th.

Very impressive breakdown of Yates. Sounds like a solid project/backup.

They love him on ESPN, second best qb in the draft? Our future Brady.

His junior year was pretty decent but wasn't have the UNC team suspended his senior year? all their big play makers were suspended and he really didn't have much to work with.
