A lot of nastiness and high motors in the guys we drafted, I like that. Why stop now, continue getting Defense. Was Keo arrested? <mcnair faints if so>
Wow, what a waste of a pick. QB in the 5th? I know we have addressed holes on defense, but we have more pressing issues than QB. Stupid move.
T.J. Yates is rated a 2.8 according to NFL.com's grade. The average is in the 4's.....what a waste. Pugs
This is the only reason that makes sense. The offense goes to crap once Schaub is off the field. Leinart and Orlovosky are third stringers at best if even that.
From this scouting report, it doesn't even sound like he'll make it as a backup. Sounds like a combination of all the negatives from Schaub, Orlovsky, and Leinart. Notes: Was a Division I mid-major basketball prospect as a Georgia prep and did not concentrate on football until his senior season, his only as a starter. Drew a scholarship offer from UNC and then-head coach John Bunting and redshirted in 2006. As a true freshman in offensive coordinator John Shoop’s system in 2007, started all 12 games and set a school single-season passing record by completing 218-of-365 attempts (59.7 percent) for 2,655 yards with 14 touchdowns and 18 interceptions. Started 6-of-7 games played in ’08, tossing 81-135-1,168-11-4 (60.0). Fractured his left ankle against Virginia Tech and missed six games. Returned to start all 13 games in ’09 when he passed 214-355-2,136-14-15 (60.3). Regained confidence in ’10, when he started all 13 games and tossed 282-422-3,418-19-9 (66.8). Finished as the school’s all-time leading passer with 9,377 yards. Has a 23-21 career starting record. Positives: Very good size. Smart, tough and has shown improved poise in the pocket. Comfortable working from under center. Can lob the fade with touch and put some air underneath the ball. Fine short accuracy. Negatives: Has a rag arm — balls tend to hang up in the air. Limited athletic ability. Inconsistent footwork diminishes accuracy, and it really wanes outside 15 yards. Streaky, plays too hot and cold and confidence issues have shown in his play. Heavy-footed, cannot escape the rush and has been slowed by injuries. Summary: Regained his confidence and came on strong as a senior but has limited upside to develop and will only fit into a short-to-intermediate, West Coast passing game as a game-managing reserve. NFL projection: Late draftable pick.
Leinhart is probably gone, and Orlovsky obviously doesnt have the confidence of the coaches if they wanted Leinhart to be number 2. Yates rates as a good field manager with good accuracy. Thats what you want in a backup. Its a good pick for a possible need position. We've drafted good for the D so far, and I see nothing wrong with this pick.
The texans draft structure must be: wade, you pick up to the first pick in round 5, kubiak/smith, you draft the rest of the picks. nice pick kubes. I think I'd rather draft a tight end
Yates must have a 9.0 grade or higher in the "Holding the clipboard" category for us to have drafted him
Orlovosky sucks and Leinart might not be back. With Schaubs injury history this team needs a backup QB bad. They will probably go to free agency to get a 2nd string QB and put Yates as the 3rd stringer to develop.
why is everyone b****ing so much ? We got a bunch of defensive players! Things are going well If you trust all the written evaluations and not the organization making the pick, then you should be b****ing a lot more about Shiloh Keo. But somehow you're willing to be open-minded about that and then b**** about a QB.. whatever
I really would have preferred the Texans to draft Greg McElroy. Who knows how it will pan out but I like the chances better with McElroy.
