Lol,... for what? Yao is our cash cow, yao will never be the focal player of the team anymore he will play limited minutes but i dont see him dominatin like he used to, plus i really doubt morey wants to continue walking the path of sorroundind players around yao. Next year we will be developing Hasheem, Big Pat, Squid, and Jordan Hill we need to add height like you say but it will atleast cost us martin, sure were not gona get the same value in return but look at how the jazz traded away deron williams and they are not trippin about getting the same value in return.
I dont mind keeping him but i just dont see him resigning with us i dont think he wants to be part of a rebuilding team and get the feeling he doesnt like to be treated like an asset.

That's the point -- none of those guys are good enough. They're all good role players.. but we don't need role players -- we need superstars. The Rockets landed their last superstar, Yao Ming, by drafting high. The Rockets were able to trade for their second-to-last superstar, Tracy McGrady, by trading a talented, in his prime, former #3 overall pick. I just don't see any way we can trade for a superstar while keeping intact a core that could still compete for championships. Dwight is available this summer -- who are we going to trade for him? Patrick Patterson, Courtney Lee and a bunch of mid to late 1st rounders? Our 30 year old PF that has a big contract and rumors of microfracture surgery in his near future? We simply can't compete with what other teams can offer. Think about this for a second. The Lakers have arguably three players (I'm a Lamar Odom fan) I'd take on my team over Kevin Martin, who I consider to be our best player. They could offer their FOURTH best player (Bynum) to the Magic and INSTANTLY make our offer the second-best one the Magic will find. What good is it in collecting all these role player assets and mediocre draft picks if a team that is going for their third championship in three years can offer their fourth best player and trump our trade offers? There's something wrong here. Fans always want to take the lazy way out -- rebuild without suffering through a bad year. It's just not possible.. you have to take your lumps and rebuild with the young talent in the draft. Kevin Martin is a 28 year old SG that just played in more games this season than he has in the prior three years. The 2010-2011 season was also the least MPG he's averaged (coincidence he didn't get hurt? Maybe) over the last four years. He had a terrific year, ranking in the NBA's top 10 in PPG. In other words, he is an absolute perfect fit for Adelman's offense -- a coach we no longer employ. I don't think his value could really get higher.. we're talking about the guy who was traded for a backup PF just last year. Kevin Martin would be a great third or fourth option on a championship contender. But for a team that desperately needs to find its first option, the only thing he's doing is keeping us afloat on Lake Mediocrity. I thought Dragon Girl had a great example in how the Sonics traded Ray Allen for Jeff Green -- of course Green would probably never amount to the career that Allen had, but it was a great move for the Sonics in moving forward with their commitment to rebuilding. It allowed them to get another valuable piece the following year in Russell Westbrook. Sometimes, you have to take a step back in order to move two steps forward. IMO, trading Kevin Martin in this year's draft is the smart thing to do -- especially seeing as we lose our 1st rounder if we make the playoffs next year.
I think Morey feels this is big IF. I think this is what Adelman wanted, but Morey thought players he could realistically bring would not be good enough for championship team. Morey is looking for superstar to take us to championship instead of just bringing more above average players. Trade and free agency routes to bring superstar are just very hard because there is so much you cannot control. Again, I don’t think OKC fans miss Ray Allen when losing him was big reason they ended up with Westbrook. K-Mart can re-sign with us in 2013 when he sees how promising future looks with new franchise player. If he is not too mad at Morey still about being asset. :grin:

With our 2nd rounder we could draft a 7'ft'r, who's a son of a former Rocket... If we are going to lose a pick I want to lose a pick in the 20s. Preferably late 20s. Losing a 15th or 16th pick, especially in as deep a draft as 2012, would set us back quite a bit. What people need to ask themselves is can we really upgrade the team enough where we are winning 55+, 60 games next year? I guess that isn't entirely impossible. Sign Nene or Chandler and bring on Kirilenko as well. Good luck pulling that off. But then again ask yourself, if that really was the plan and direction the team wanted to go, do you really think Adelman would have opposed, so much so to leave on philosophical differences?
Lowry was the best player on the Rockets this season. I'd take Lowry and Martin over Lamar Odom. Gasol and Bryant are way above those, though.
No. A shooter that is a subpar defender. That means a little better Budinger that takes shots away from Martin and keeps our perimeter defense poor. Unfortunately, he's not a fit. We need a two-way upgrade at the 3, a guy that can defend very well and work off the ball and score efficiently. (Enter Andrei Kirilenko stage right)
We need a young two-way upgrade. As much as I like AK47, it is time to stop going after these "win now" guys. We would be better off developing a young SF at that spot, instead of giving more playing time to the deteriorating rifle...

Wouldn't it be better if we picked up some bigs this year since we are developing other players and let twill and bud raise their stocks, tank next season and with our high draft pick we should go for a harrison barnes, perry jones or another break out star potential small forward available.
I wouldn't mind taking a chance on Jeremy Tyler. Still very young and was said to be getting his stuff together lately.
