Shields streak is impressive, but I can't bet against GSP.

    Is this Randy's last fight?
I thought I saw an interview he did with a woman (Bryant?) and he said it would probably be the last one.

Love Randy, but I think Machida wins. Randy is older and a little past his prime. I don't think he is a top level fighter at this stage, though still a great one. I think Machida is a top level fighter (despite the 2 recent defeats) and will take it.

To be fair, he broke Koscheck's orbital bone with the very first jab he threw in their last fight.

Koscheck still hasn't been cleared to partake in physical activities. It's been over a year.

All that damage with just a jab.

In the UFC I've only seen Fitch rocked once outside of the GSP fight. GSP dropped him 4 times in that fight alone. Plus he was responsible for this.

No matter how it ends up I am just hoping for some good fights. I see another decision for GSP, although I would love to see him finish a fight. UFC fans who have never seen Aldo fight will be in for a surprise because that guy is a KO artist at the lower weight. And man I hope Randy wins. If he can still beat elite fighters at his age it is a modern miracle.

LOL I logged in to make that post. ROFL

Over a year? Come on man...

Anyway, Shields is legit. This is not some slouch who beat a lot of nobodies and is the next sacrificial lamb. He's big time. But so was Fitch. Shields can win this fight, but I don't expect him to. He's good enough on the ground, but he's just so weak standing that I can't see GSP letting it go to the ground.

Also expect his conditioning to play a role here. Shields seemed to really struggle with the cut to WW against The Hitman, and I don't expect it to be easy for him this time either.

My thoughts exactly all around. Shields has beaten some really good opponents but I really can't see him taking GSP to the ground and keeping him on his back for a long period let alone wearing out GSP for a submission. I don't think GSP will be stupid enough to put himself into a situation where he will get caught anyways. He's one of the most disciplined and cerebral fighters of all time.

Shields is a natural MW and there's no way he's going to stop GSP @ 170lbs.

I won't say no way, but I will say highly unlikely.

My prediction is that GSP wins by TKO.

Lol I was there earlier to meet Royce Gracie, Bader and Jon Fitch. Too bad I left half an hour before Dana tweeted he was going to be there. I was going to go again when I saw the tweet, but the weather was horrible for walking.

apparently he punches harder than Cain and kicks harder than Shogun, which they already measured on the show

even GSP said it himself. "it's not about the power of the punch.. it's about surprising your opponent."

UFC taps Oct. 8 for major event in Houston, UFC Fan Expo to coincide

TORONTO – The UFC makes it return to Houston on Oct. 8 for a major event, sources close to the organization today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).

The event likely will take place at the 18,000-seat Toyota Center, which also hosted UFC 69 in 2007.

Although he didn't announce the event, UFC president Dana White did confirm during a Q&A session today that Houston also will host a UFC Fan Expo on Oct. 7 and 8.

Sources gave few details about the planned event, though it's expected to air on pay-per-view.

White made Houston's UFC Fan Expo announcement, fittingly, during today's Q&A session at the UFC Fan Expo in Toronto. Houston becomes the fifth city to host the popular two-day fan festivals following expos in Las Vegas (twice), Boston, London and Toronto. The expo is expected to take place at Houston's George R. Brown Convention Center.

The UFC made its Texas debut with UFC 69. The event featured Matt Serra's stunning upset of then-welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre, as well as Josh Koscheck's victory over a seriously ill Diego Sanchez (staph infection) in the co-headliner.

The event drew 15,269 fans for a $2.8 million gate.

You don't get knocked out because you're surprised.
