Per 610. Watt will move to NT on 3rd downs. That and he will fill in at DE when they rotate Mario between OLB/DE.
For starters, there are going to be lots of downs that Mario, Smith and Watt play together. But even when not, any team worth its salt has at least three capable ends. There are rotations, obvious passing downs... Watt will be on the field plenty if he is a capable player.
LOTS of good defensive players falling, some team willing to be bold will trade into the 1st rd and get themselves a nice player.
He was already scratched! Mitchell/Cody have the job! I can't believe they passed on highly graded prospects at positions of serious need (CB, WOLB, lesser degree NT)...to get a situational bench guy. They have a chance to chill me out if they trade back into the first and nab Amukamara. If only for this simple reason: think about the pricetag for even an Ike Taylor. You don't get better value trading back in and rolling with Prince? But they won't. They won't even think about doing it. Because if they had half a damn brain they would have already done the smart thing and taken him.
its not the worst thing in the world. But its like middle infield prospects and the astros, at a certain point you need to address your weaknesses. The astros has a ton of middle infield prospects, no corner power prospects the texans now have more than minimally necessary DEs, no CB's
Teams worth a salt don't willfully ignore strong prospects at positions of serious need so that they can select a third capable end. Watt'll be fine for us, but this was like buying a new battery when you have 3 flat tires.
Connor Barwin is coming back this year too, don't get it. The good news is that Watt will play a TON because once teams notice we have the same secondary as last year, every down will be a passing down.
