Those teams are built for the playoffs and the rockets are not. If Okefor wouldnt have gone down for 3 weeks and Ariza for a couple of weeks, they wouldve have way more games. The grizz lost gay for along time when he was playing great ball. The rockets just are not good enough and wont be until they get better players.
We could be better than New Orleans if they wouldn't use the Rockets money against them. The League owning the Hornettes is such a shame and I never agree'd with Mark Cuban until he made a fuss about paying for Landry to be on the Hornets squad. F' Stern, F' the Hornettes, and F' any one who likes them.
Tanked to get the eight spot. Beating a team with injured players like Manu. We know the Spurs will win tonight so don't get too overconfident bc your team is one home loss from blowing the series. I think the Thunder will sweep if you do move on. The Rockets will have a better record than the Grizzlies next season, imo..
Only if we steal Gasol for free I would dare say that. That Memphis team is poised for a top 4 seed next year, they are a Rudy Gay reaching his potential away from being a scary championship contender.
I don't think so. Their bench is average and the western conference is all about depth. Lakers, Thunder, Mavs, Spurs, and maybe Denver should all end up higher. The Rockets will improve somehow this summer. As long as the Rockets don't go 1-7 against the Mavs & Spurs again, we'll end up with a better record.
Oh you mean will the Rockets be better than the Grizzlies? Of course. Thats a no brainer too. Obviously this year they are better. By next year the Grizzlies should be below us again or in the near future. Rockets obviously a better franchise and will continue to be.
The delusions of the homer minds on this thread are beyond unbelievable. You guys can honestly say we could compete in the playoffs the way NO and Memphis have? Hell no. The most crucial element missing is bigs, even if they come off the bench, that have substantial impact as in size matters. If we had Aaron Gray to pair witch Chuck Hayes instead of a Brad Miller we maybe can be comparable to either team but still fall short. Don't be a homer and realise our short-comings please.
Grizzlies and Hornets have better players and should already be better than the Rockets if their FOs were worth a damn. A good supporting cast means **** if there's no star to support.
We just don't have the talent or the size that all of the West playoff teams possess. Unless something incredible happens in the offseason, it's going to be the exact thing next year. This thread reminds me of the offseason last year where people were declaring us one of the top of the western teams, Yao would definitely would stay healthy, how teams like OKC were one hit wonders.
So you're saying that we're really close then? We would have given the Spurs a run for their money with our current squad esp with Manu banged up. We beat good teams in the second half of the season. It's not like we were just beating scrub teams.
 Ask a Spurs team, Pop, or a Spurs fan if they'd rather face our current Rocket's squad rather than the Grizz? Go back to that Friday game we had against the Spurs 4 weeks ago and compare it to what the Grizz have done against them in this series? I'm sure what we're missing would make Duncan and a drive into the lane Parker very happy to play us. Dude we got lucky with a few steals and right bounces in our last game against them. But in a series against the Spurs, with the personal we are lacking in the paint, we have no chance. Not even close.
If your team has a really good starting 5, the bench is not as important. I think their bench is good and versitile if you ask me. Sam Young will go back to the bench when gay comes back. Young,Mayo,Arthur are all guys who can start on most teams in the nba. Vasquez is still young, but their bench is good enough.
No one can predict one team being better than another. That's why they play the games. ORL set an NBA playoff record last season in point differential in sweeping the Hawks. The next ATL coach makes a tweak and defensively takes Horford off of Howard. 4-2 Hawks. The Rockets "take the Lakers to 7 games". The next season, they take the #14 pick in the Lottery. It's all about matchups. That's why some teams with less talent give teams with better records a real struggle. And embedded in that is the fact younger players play better at home than on the road. To look at a single game or season series and declare you can predict the future is some serious Fool's Gold.
Both the Grizzlies and the Hornets have more complete teams than us right now. That’s why their records were better than ours this year, that’s why they got into the playoffs and we didn't. We obviously have a glaring hole in middle of our team.
