OMG this is too funny, the Spurs are making fools of themselves with this series. It's not even a match-up like most analysts were hoping for. Rather than having having an even series all the way to game 7, the Spurs have been bending over since the first game.
Thanks again DM. Funny, when Battier was here the 1st time they failed trying to make him the 3rd option. Now in his proper place as role player/non-option, I really appreciate his game.
Good for the Grizz. I must admit: I didn't see this happening. I knew Memphis was tough but I figured the Spurs would handle them in six games. Needless to say, I was wrong. If I were the Spurs I'd consider shuffling the frontcourt. Get Blair and Splitter more involved with less McDyess and Bonner. Maybe that's just me, though.
I think Memphis is playing above themselves. The law of averages will come into play. The question is when. Im not saying Memphis isnt a good team, just not as good as they are looking right now. They are riding on adrenaline and confidence. One will be eclipsed. They may have enough momentum to win the Spurs series. Tough call since I expect the Spurs to win game 5. But even if they prevail, I dont expect them to get out of the 2nd round. I think the Spurs kept waiting for a lull in Memphis's play and havent enough of one. They have gotten a bit too into saving themselves rather than trying to dominate every minute and giving it their all right now. Its a pattern they have been running for a couple years now. I think they felt themselves OK being 2-2 after 4. That would leave them with a 3 game series with 2 of them on their court. They kept expecting Memphis's level of play to drop. I agree with them, but its taking longer than they anticipated. Now we will see what both teams are made of cause the Spurs will go balls to the walls in game 5. Memphis has been doing that all series, so we will see no holding back in both directions.
I'm enjoying this series. I haven't watched this much non Rocket playoff basketball since the Mavs losing as the #1 to the Warriors.
It's been a much closer series than the 3-1 series lead memphis has. We could have easily lost game 1 and even game 3. I will contend that the spurs have played great basketball till game 4 and that they could have beaten some of the teams in the playoffs rather easily with the way they've played. The grizzlies are just on a mission for respect. We have guys on our team that are dissed on a regular basis: Randolph is a black hole/ he was coup'd against by Brandon roy out of portland, TA and the fact that boston didn't want to pony up 3 million a year for him, Marc isn't as good as his brother pau, Conley always folds down the stretch of games, along with the general media who believe that the grizzlies are just a lucky team and don't give them the time of day. You add all of that up and might realize that this team does just have a chip on their shoulder, it's a boulder and whomever stands in their way better be ready for a freight train coming. The grizzlies aren't messing around.
Clippy is in panic mode. He desperately wants to prove how Lakers had a lopsided under-table trade. By getting rid of Pau, Grizzles got Randolf, Marc and Arthur. It shouldn't be hard to see Grizzles wouldn't want to trade Marc for Pau straight up today, let alone Randolf and Arthur as bonus.
You have to look at things in the proper context. The Marc Gasol of 2008 is nowhere near the Marc Gasol of 2010. He wasn't even in the league at the time. And in 2008, Pau Gasol was regarded as a far superior player to Zach Randolph. It made no sense to get rid of Gasol to free up cap space to sign Randolph.
You are r****ded. But that's no news. Simply because a trade allows a team to sign other players does not mean the trade is not lopsided. If the Lakers trade Kobe Bryant for peanuts today, tank the next season and get the no.1 pick. Do you call trading Bryant for peanuts a "balanced" trade? The Grizzlies gave the Lakers 2 championships. period.
Grizzles were on track to b2b 20 wins season when they traded Gasol. And they didn't have any cap. Is it better to continue that trend or rebuild? And they got Marc in that trade and they got cap relief. It's not like they got lucky with one pick. And a team is guaranteed to land some quality free agent with big cap space. Your dumbness is through the roof on this one.
What you're saying doesn't make sense. The Grizzlies gave up Gasol and eventually used the cap space to sign Randolph, an inferior player. How exactly is that "rebuilding"? In your opinion, had the Grizzlies kept Pau Gasol, what would be their current state?
Wait a minute, Z-Bo wasn't signed was he, I always thought he got traded to Memphis. As far as the Gasol trade goes, it was lopsided, but not THAT bad. Memphis could've gotten a better deal than an expiring +2 late first rounders+Unproven Euro. Pau was definitely traded at below market price. But then again maybe Memphis' intention at the time was the tank the season and land big in the lottery (which ended up being Mayo and The Beet). If this trade happened between two non-contenders, it would probably be over looked as another trade, but it just so happens Pau started another dynasty for the Lakers.
Besides being r****ded, he's an attention w****, a liar, and a welsh (owes $50 now, will owe another $50 in a week, good luck seeing any of that LOL). Just put him on ignore.. trust me, it makes the forums much more readable.
Yup and the trade for Gerald Wallace to Portland is proof of that. That trade happen and not many people whined about how Portland robbed Charlotte. A few years later the Memphis trade works out for them and people still are whining.
In retrospect the grizzlies and the lakers won. But for different reasons. Look at it this way: If the rockets could somehow trade Kevin Martin for Paul George, would that be seen as lopsided? Martin is the far better player right now, but George is showing potential. The way the grizzlies looked at the deal was in 3 parts: first they got Marc Gasol, who was considered the most improved European player at that time. So much so that the lakers didn't want to involve him in the deal. They also got a boat load of cap room, and 3 number 1 picks from the lakers to rebuild with. Anyway you look at it, this was by far the best deal out there. Ask yourself another question, after marc's first year in the nba, if he were on another team say Toronto and the grzziles still had pau, could the grizzlies even gotten him at all offering Pau Gasol and his contract? I submit that most of the teams in the nba would have laughed us and hung up the phone, a young tough bigman is hard to find.
