They should have done a pre-game show called "The Ankle" and talked all about his ankle.

Too bad for kobe, Derrick Rose has stolen the idea as well!

I was just bumping what turned out to be my extremely prophetic post, for people like you, who probably bought into the charade as casual fans do.

Yeah, vintage clippy is watching basketball for basketball and not for drama. I mean, how many times do we have to hear about Kobe's PERSERVERANCE and TOUGHNESS playing through what is most evidently a broken ankle and/or foot. You know that the TNT broadcasters were told to emphasize it for the drama and didn't really buy it either-- only Barkley has the balls and job security to tell it like it is though, so kudos to him.

Kobe's should have been a flagrant 1, no big whup. Brown should have been thrown out and/or suspended (at least if the NBA is going by precedent, since he did the same thing others have been punished for). I expect the NBA to review both and possibly issue a suspension for Brown.

Bash Clippy all you want, but he is dead on. It's clear that the ankle wasn't a serious concern by gametime. As he mentioned, it's no different from them thinking Gray would miss time and then they worked to get him ready and he could play....no issue with the ankle. Same with Kobe. I mean, the dude actually said he would have played if it was broken in the postgame so the MRI didn't matter. Come on now...don't insult my intelligence.

Props to the TNT crew for calling a spade a spade. The injury was overblown. I no longer want to hear Laker fans mention Pierce and the wheelchair.

What did Kobe do to merit this kind of hate? All I saw was him refusing a MRI and playing a great game. He didn't say anything, ANYTHING that can be interpreted as an attempt to bring attention and media sympathy. It's the media that makes the hoopla, not Kobe himself...

But I doubt any of my, or any rational fans' comments would ever deter clippy from his crusade of enlightening the world to the fact that kobe is the most over rated piece of **** douchebag p***y b**** that ever touched a basketball, and who should simply bow down before the glorious might of a certain king James, and that all who support him are mindless rats with no intelligence whatsoever and who all deserve to be wiped from the face of the earth...

Kobe doesn't need to say anything to elicit sympathy or media attention. The douchebag announcers and analysts that are all up on his jock do it for him and he knows that.

Give me a freakin' break. When LeBron had that alleged issue with his elbow last year, people were giving him hell. Now Kobe does the exact same thing (and not even the first time for him) and all the fans and media can talk about is how tough he is. Basically whenever Kobe's ego gets hurt, he has to pull some kind of phony act to justify it. When Wade pwned him in the last game, he notified the press that he would be shooting jumpers in the arena to show how hard of a competitor he is. When CP3 broke him down a few times he decided to milk his "injury" by pulling out the crutches, talking about how he was getting treatment around the clock, didn't want an MRI etc. Use your head. If he really needed an MRI, the team would have given it to him because it is their responsibility. He didn't have one because it would have shown nothing and then he would have been called out for his BS.

Annnnnd? So what, Kobe should attack the media? Say "HEY you! Don't do any more reporting on me, because certain fans will think I'm a douchebag...which I really am not."

That's the sort of oversensitive behavior that players like Kobe and MJ took no part in. Their motto: Play the F'ing game, forget about the rest...Not saying its the best approach to every single endeavor in life, but it certainly shouldn't be reprehensible in a bball player

Out of curiosity, are you even reading people's posts before you reply?

Like Clippy said, after the Lakers/Heat game, Kobe notified the media that he'd be shooting jumpers after the game.

And in any case, he could've defused the whole situation by getting the tests done and proving there was nothing wrong with the ankle. But Kobe doesn't want that. He wants the spotlight. That's why he's walking around in crutches. That's why his refusal to take tests makes headlines. B/c he's a drama queen.

Kobe was suspended twice back in 2006 for trying to sell a call. Stu Jackson called it "unnatural basketball act". There're tons of players before and after him doing the same thing, and nobody got suspended for that. No one but him.

It may as well be called "Kobe rule".

There's a difference between trying to sell a call and trying to sell a call while hitting an opponent in the face (which is what Kobe did). No one else has done it. No one but him.

Are you saying no one ever hit anybody's face by flailing out an arm?
    Is this April 1?

    Is that what I wrote?

Can you think of another instance where an offensive perimeter player draws a foul by hitting his opponent in the face?

    Actually, I can:

Kobe had 2 broken fingers in 2 different seasons. Both with positive X-ray result. He played like those injuries didn't exist and won 1 Olympics and 2 NBA championships. The man needed to prove he could play with injury?

LeBron sprained a thumb and rested a few weeks. Had a phantom elbow injury that MRI revealed no damage but he insisted it's a problem.

"I go out there and get a hard workout, and I know the elbow is not 100 percent healthy… It feels great, but I’m not going to wait until it hurts to start icing it.”

Problem is the media are the ones overblowing the thing and then they react with indignity only after they've been exposed as exaggerating idiots. Broussard tweeted that Kobe was out of the playoffs, for example.

As far as the wheelchair, you're going to hear about it. That was maudlin to the extreme. Unless you have footage of Kobe leaving Gm 4 on a walker...
