Eggs, cereal and milk are cheap. Many poor families have to shop and eat intelligently because they make more than the maximum for food stamps. Meanwhile, dickheads on food stamps eat better than them. That's injustice. If you're poor, you should eat cheaper food if you're not paying for it.
Eggs, cereal and milk are not cheap. A gallon of milk is almost 4 bucks. Eggs are 2.50 or something. Back in my day, Milk was a dollar, eggs were .50 cents.
Way to make it an "us vs them" scenario. Your point in no way detracts from the rightful fury over someone on food stamps eating lobster and porterhouse. Did everyone hate on the GM CEO when he flew to Washington on a private jet for the bankruptcy hearings? Yes. Was that hate justified? Yes but again its a totally separate issue.
Dude, if you're actually poor, then you don't really give a **** what you're eating for breakfast... you're just happy to have food. And for the record, I eat chicken and rice for breakfast sometimes. With cheese and hot sauce
Eggs are $1.25 for a dozen, you can get name-brand cereal for $1.50 a box. Or you can buy the store brand and get more for less. I could feed myself for a month with $140. It's not hard.
Oatmeal, eggs, milk, grits, bread (toast) etc. Example: 1 serving milk: 19 cents 2 large eggs: 22 cents 2 serving oatmeal: 20 cents 1 serving Orange juice: 20 cents total: 81 cents Vs Two poptarts: 2 dollars It really isn't hard to understand.
I googled how much it cost. I don't drink milk. I don't eat cereal, or eat eggs often. I often hear old people b**** and moan about the price of milk all the time.
Hell I b**** about the price of milk too. I go through a half-gallon lactose-free carton of milk every week (just with cereal) and the price has up from ~$1.90 to ~$2.75. Though as a med student I also blow through soda and am upset that 12-packs have gone from $4 regular price to almost $6 now.

Hey Brainiac, The whole point of this (probably made up) story is to set up an "us vs them" scenario. However, one of these scenarios has a huge impact on the financial health of this country. The other one (welfare abuse) has a teeny tiny really really small impact on the financial health of this country. But visions of po folks eating steak and lobsters does keep the wingnuts distracted, so they don't notice who's trying to steal their Medicare. So I imagine we'll be seeing more stories like this.
