"It's the same thing every time we play them," Memphis coach Lionel Hollins said. "They out-quicked us, they outworked us, they out-toughed us. They made a statement to tell us that we couldn't play against them."

"We came in here to try to make a statement that we could play with them, but they showed us that we haven't matured enough and gotten on the level that they're on with their group."

So what did they do? They went and got the toughest, maturest, and hardest working (ok tie with Hayes) gule player we have in Battier and now they're out quicking, out working, and out toughing the number one seed. Good luck Battier, wish you the best.

Shane "Big Balls" Battier is the meanest sonuvabitch alive. He's got good diction, too.

Happy for Shane and no doubt he has been the missing piece but having Gasol, Randolph and Arthur playing at a high level sure helps when the Spurs are just as vertically challenged as the Rox minus old man Duncan..

    Gule Story, Bro?

Thanks Morey! Battier belongs to Memphis. He is a leader and a true professional with heart.

Morey didn't take a picture. Not an asset.

what's your point we were a better team without him and they are better with him. He was a piece they needed and to us was a piece hindering the development of younger players. While I admired his approach to the game and mentality the move morey made was the right one in my mind.

No real point, now that the Rox are out of it, I'm left to cheer players with Rox connection.. hence Battier. Though watching how gritty the grizzlies were tonight, it seemed like night and day from the beginning of the season where we just own there butts.

You can't blame Morey for the trade. We did what we had to do. The only questionable part of it is that Gay was out and we were battling with Memphis directly for the spot. I wonder where Battier ends up next year. I just like watching him play somewhere where he can contribute to higher level.

my bad I just thought you were harping on about how the battier trade was a bad one. I thought it was a necessary one to make even though Shane was a big player.

I agree with the Battier trade for us in our current state, I trust in Morey. I also am in the camp that Shane is a valuable member of any team he plays for so now the Rockets have no chance, I want him to have success just to show how important it is to have a glue guy like Shane.

    That crap again.

Rockets is not better without Battier. With Battier, Rockets won 69% as a starting unit, the best 5 man unit Rockets had this season.

More made the "right" move not because Budinger is better than Battier, but because he won't and can't match Battier's offer due to his cheap boss Les.

They were better with Battier. Basiclly every team becomes better with him, it's been proven over and over.

Shane was a huge negative in the playoffs as a starter. He's a solid 20 mins bench player and have been one for the last 4 yrs. Shameful it took the rox so long to figure it out.
