Yeah except the difference in all those cases including Nash and Rondo was that you didn't give up squat to get them. We're talking about giving up a very good top 10 PG. It'll never happen.
just talkin out the side of my neck right now. but what if we did trade for Rubio and Rubio turns out to be a superstar...not only that but we picked up D. Howard and we still kept Martin???? like i said...just talking lol
I like Lowry A LOT. I'd be fine with (Trading) selling high now with Lowry. I just wouldn't trade Lowry for Rubio.
a lot of these clutchfans i swear were on Aaron Brooks nuts when he was on top of his game. He's gone, Lowry took over and people are on his nuts...so if Lowry does get traded for Rubio i guarantee the same people not wanting him right now will be on his nuts lol
I'm not sure whether Rubio will be a superstar pg or not, however what's the difference between Lowry last season and say a "superstar" Ricky Rubio? Not very much, I'd say, Lowry is already an excellent defender, scraps everywhere, is built like a tank, and has leadership qualities. Trading Rubio for Lowry right now would be a low reward, high risk scenario-the difference between a superstar pg and lowry is small, but the risk that Rubio won't pan out and we just gave Lowry away for free is great. Its just not smart asset management (oh noes! I used the "A" word ). Lowry played at an unbelievable clip last season, so I can support the "sell high" crowd and trade him away for better pieces. And by better pieces I don't mean Rubio. Better to package him for someone like Gasol or DeAndre Jordan if you want to trade him away.
Thats too bad. Because if we had made that trade then yeah we would have been worse...but we would have had a couple of things now to help rebuild. A higher Draft pick no doubt And a player that you can sell potential to other teams What did Battier and Brooks really give the Rockets this past season? Not much. But to answer the OP question. No I would not trade Lowry for Rubio, i mean we don't even know when the guy is coming over to play in the NBA. Also by the time he gets over here will he even have a job? The Twolves are projected to draft Irving...
SMFH People on this board get to damn attach to this players. Look people not only do we get a potential super star, but the down season we would have due to bringing in new young PG, will also help us with our draft positioning next year in the loaded 2012 NBA Draft. Some of you need to stop being so freaking shortsighted.
Here is the problem. A lot of people here just don't seem to see that superstar potential in Rubio. He is having his worst year, whiles Lowry is having his best. Not to mention, if we do trade for the rights to Rubio, he probably won't come to Houston for at least another year. How do you think Morey would look? Imagine if he stays in Euroleague for another 2 years, signs with us after, and we wait another year or two for Rubio to adjust to the NBA. Dragic would be 29, Budinger and Patterson would be 26, Scola 34, Lee 28, Hayes 31. We are no longer a young team. If we trade Lowry to Rubio, that means we need to start rebuilding a roster for Rubio. All of this, assuming Rubio doesn't suck and actually has all-star potential. If he doesn't have that...well you can imagine what we're stuck with.
Rubio is the most overrated player on this board! The guy hasn't proved ANYTHING!! Why would u wanna trade a up and coming PG like lowry for a guy that hasn't even stepped foot on a NBA court! Ridiculous!!
Better to be attached to our own players rather than some scrub who can't even shoot 40% from the field. Wait is this the same CF that loves Terrence Williams??? It all makes sense now.
rubio can't even score in the spanish league. anyone here who WOULD make the trade only knows rubio's reputation. he's shooting 33% from the field this year. to compare, sergio llull is shooting 40% this year in the same league. scola shot near 60% in his last year there. this is just one portion of it, but if ricky rubio is going to be a superstar, he needs to be able to generate offense. he's still a great passer, but how is he going to lead an offense if he can't score at all? it's widely documented that he's stalled in his development in terms of scoring and that's a necessary part of being a good PG.
