Scola has always been a very healthy guy, almost injury-proof, but a 200+ lbs guy falling into your leg is not normal.

At least this is a clarification to anyone thinking he's becoming an injury-prone player because of age. It was a freaking accident, AFAIK.

Ok guys let's calm down...I know it's a rough surgery but the season will probably be delayed and Scola never relied on his athleticism to play ball. It's not like he's dying or anything. Remember Scola is one of the toughest guys on our team.

Thread title and OP was misleading. The podcast itself gave only speculation and not actual Scola updates.

I don't understand how a freak accident like that could possibly lead to microfracture. Isn't microfacture surgery needed to fix wear-and-tear problems that occur from loss of cartilage? Did Scola's surgery cost some of Scola's cartilage or something?

Good thing Scola's game is not based on athleticism! :p

I've heard this Kenneth guy along with Dr. Clay Aike working on Yao's medical conditions over the years. Don't we feel lucky to have such a great medical team for this team. "& the sarcasm turns into cries"

We almost traded this guy (with Battier) for Amare Stoudemire but we stopped because we thought Amare might have knee trouble. Turns out that Scola was the injury risk and Amare is perfectly healthy.

He's not having the surgery, at least that's not what is being said here. It was speculation that he may eventually needed. Could be next year or 10 years from now.

Cartilage can be damaged from wear and tear or from a direct blow......in this case Scola just ha his knee cleaned out. What the Dr. is saying is that having loose particles in there that need to be cleaned out usually point to the cartilage wearing out, which means that eventually, assuming the wearing out continues, he'd need microfracture.

That being said, this Dr. does NOT know the specifics of Scola's case. Scola's cartilage could be wearing out very slowly or not. Dr' also mentions the particles can be small or large, and again, he doesnt know what's the case with Scola.

And this isn't me assuming he doesnt know about scola, the Dr actually says it. He also give his opinion on Manu and Amare's condition. It's a very general opinion.

I told you all 12 months ago that Scola was getting too old and we needed to trade him as soon as we could make a find of a younger more athletic player.:)

And you were wrong. Even if you were right, which, again, you were not, there was no one available of even value, not to mention the trade issues with his contract. Anyway, you were wrong.

Yeah, dobro should edit his post. This is not an actual Scola update at all.

Exactly. The doctor specifically says that only the Rockets know the extent of damage due to the loose cartilege in Scola's knee and that fans should watch what happens this offseason.

Exact quote: "It is the start of a process that should be a concern for the Rockets, and only they know how bad - or not so bad - it is."

Nowhere does he say that Scola will "most likely" have microfracture surgery, as the OP writes. He doesn't even make a guess.

On a positive note, by listening to the entire interview, I got to learn something about prostate cancer. So thanks for that.

It's not a bad thing for Les. In past two years, he collected a lot money from insurance company because of Yao and Tmac injuries. If Scola needs to do a microfacture surgery, it will take him a year to rehab. Les can collect some money from insurance company again. Anyway, the rockets will be in rebuilding process next season. They don't need a healthy Scola to improve their record.

I don't know why people overreact. We immediately panic as soon as we hear the words "microfracture surgery."

Best case scenario: It won't be as bad as it seems and Scola will eventually get back to 100% since he doesn't really have a history of knee issues.

Worst case scenario: Scola takes a long time to heal or won't ever play the same, but we get a blessing in disguise in Patrick Patterson possibly starting. We all know what happened in the AB-Lowry situation this year, and Morey specifically drafted this guy at #14 because he's ready to play and he's proven it many times. This guy gives it his all and won't let us down.

    LONG STORY SHORT: It's win-win.

I saw Scola today at the international festival.

Here is a picture of him. He is rocking dad jeans, and a cane.

You guys are crazy. Luis Scola is like John Stockton.

This injury will have ZERO impact on his game.

    15-18 PPG, 8-10 RPG...

For the next 6 years. I guarantee it.
