I stopped by the UPS store on Richmond by 610. The 24-hour Fitness has moved to a 2 story space at the end of the shopping center. Every parking space was full, and they had free valet parking also. I don't have a membership, so I can't check it out. Has you checked it out yet? What's the layout like?
I worked out there on Sat. and Sun. I usually work out at the other one by the Galleria - but thought I'd give this one a try. It is REALLY nice - 2 stories. TONS of cardio equipment. Standard amount of weightlifting equipment. But because there have been TONS of people there as of late - if you wanna lift - it's pretty hard b/c too many people are sharing the same equipment. If you wanna do cardio - tons of treadmills, stair steppers, ellipticals to pick from - and they have lots of TVs and you get audio by plugging your headphones into a jack attached to the actual piece of cardio equipment (like at most hotels). So bottom line - go there to do cardio - but not to lift weights.
I only worked out upstairs - where all of the weights and cardio equipment is located. As big as the place is - I would think there would be one. It is probably on the ground floor.
Did they finally add towel service at Richmond? I always forget to bring one and end up going to the San Felipe/Post Oak location(they have towels) when it's not packed like a mother. Either way, I'll definitely check out the new Richmond one.

Looks like they converted that Bally's in Rice village into a 24 hour fitness, and it looks really nice! Has anyone been over there yet? http://www.24hourfitness.com/FindClubDetail.do?clubid=659
I thought the one on the endcap near the loop was always 2 stories. is it a sport or super sport? i think i can go to the sport ones.
They just built a new one right outside of Katy as well (Westpark Toll and 99- by the Wal-Mart and Best Buy).
That renovation was done almost 2 years ago... I used to work out at that location when I lived in Houston (at the renovated 2-story facility and the crappy older one down the strip-mall where it used to be). someone else had it right... after work - don't bother lifting weights - its too crowded... there is plenty of cardio equipment though - but i did typically have to wait 5-10 minutes for a treadmill to open up... they also had a working a/c... the older location down the strip mall never had the A/C working and i would sweat my balls off (to the point of heat exhaustion a few times while running - had to stop, get off, and go outside to cool down). overall - good place - but WAYYY too crowded. (but what gym isn't after 4:30pm)???
Yes I have, its a super sport one, 4 floors, its got just about everything. I work in the medical center so this new Rice location is convenient, and this one is actually open 24 hours throughout (weekends included) fitting any crazy schedule. Its really nice and clean, spacious, new equipment, not sure if many people know about it yet, opened in March. I can agree that the Sugar Land one is Filth after going to this one.....
The super sport (Cinco Ranch) just opened at Westpark and Grand Parkway (99). I think it's the second super sport in town with the Midtown location being the other one. Sick gym with barely anyone there. Life Time is down the street and it's only a week old so I'm definitely enjoying the lack of people there while it lasts.
good to hear that they are expanding...i don't plan on switching to somewhere else and i was afraid they'd start having problems like Bally's.
