Rubio is one of the very worst point guards in the Euroleague. The Rockets pick is worth much more than Rubio is.

I am so sick of hearing about Deandre Jordan. He simply is not that good. He is a poor individual defender, often sagging off his man going for rebounds and cheap blocks. He gives up easy baskets because of terrible switches and poor instincts. He has virtually no offensive ability and his work ethic and intelligence are very dubious. His upside is Kelvin Cato, assuming he ever learns how to defend...

The Rockets have made mistakes, and perhaps waited too long to rebuild, but passing on Deandre isnt at the top of the list.

Rubio is boom or bust. Many scouts believe that he will play better in the NBA than in Europe based on his skill set.

I don't care about Joey Dorsey... he was a second round draft pick that did not work out.... 90% of 2nd rounders do not work out. Jordan is a better player than Dorsey, but neither player is all that great.

Jordan is a reserve center in the NBA long term.

True, but the kid would have definitely helped us out this past season.

Like not being able to shoot, not being able to finish at the rim, not being able to hit an outside shot? He can't do any of that at the Euroleague level, so I really am baffled as to how these NBA scouts all seem to be so enamored with him.

Anything that could walk bigger than 6'6 could have helped us.

Conventional wisdom seems to be that teams will try and trade out of this draft for future picks.

Maybe we should go against the grain.

I guess it depends on what Morey's draft board looks like.

The Rockets should target Kawhi Leonard and Chris Singleton for our problems at 3. Noguiera and Biyombo for our problems at 5. I would gladly sacrifice T-Will, Bud and Hill for those guys.

Using what? If the team whose pick we're trading for is looking to trade out of this draft, it likely won't want #23 or #38.

Morey's not trading the 2012 Knicks' pick for anything short of a top-5 (maybe top-8?) pick in this year's draft. Remember, even though it is looking like that pick will end up in the #17-22 range, it is only top-5 protected, and you never know what might happen if Amare and/or Melo goes down with a major injury. That team is pretty crappy after those two guys.

The 2013 (or later) MEM first rounder won't help us move up very high.

And as far as the Rockets' OWN picks, the best the Rockets can offer (assuming that Morey wants lottery protection on the pick, which he seemingly always does) is a pick to be conveyed TWO YEARS AFTER the Rockets fulfill their obligation to convey a lottery-protected first rounder to New Jersey from the T-Will trade.

Of course, if by "against the grain" you meant simply trading up as opposed to taking advantage of those trying to trade out, then disregard my comments. ;)

If either had dreads, they'd be compared to Mikki Moore.

What team or teams should we be targeting for a trade up in the lottery?
