Good article. I like this point of view. And it's as well written as most sports columns. Must be someone not in the playoffs.

will rev sharpton go up in arms with this?

If you ask me, they're trying to take the "white" out of the game. Besides MJ, all the great trash-talkers have been white. We were born talking trash.

The point is not the race card. The point is the distinct lack of "equality" of accountability in a sense that he is frustrated with.

Why is that certain races can hold themselves up to a different standard? Because of history? I can grant that. But for how long? How long until it becomes just another trite excuse?

Not saying that I agree with the above statement, but that is the sentiment that was related that you ignore.

context.. it's not simply about saying something racial.. but what it is about.. trash-talking..

you want accountability about saying that black people are better than trash talking at white people? it's trash talking.. just like the movie "white men can't jump"..

give an example of something a white person has recently said which got rev sharpton up in arms about which was as petty as trash-talking..

i agree with the article, trash talking is part of the game and should be tolerated. It is part of the competitive nature of the game and no matter how hard they try they cannot completely eliminate it.

dont belie the poignant retort of white chocolate
Williams also pretended to shoot a machine gun at the fans. In the words of white power bill, "white power."

Anybody else interested in deducing the identity of Player X? We can guess it's not a Celtic, because he talks about "them." You can also eliminate the Spurs because he talks about Parker, and a few other teams too. Also it mentions that he's a star player, so scrubs are out of the question. Obviously he's black and probably grew up in an insular environment (more of a Jalen Rose than Grant Hill, and probably not biracial). If we could get a chance to look at all his columns (if someone who has Insider would be willing to post them), then I (a former private investigator) might be able to find out who he is.

And white people have better diction and composition skills. So clearly, the article was written by a white person. Too much realism?

Maybe he watched the game on TV or something. I think a good clue is when he says they played the Bobcats and Larry Brown was controlling the game with his nagging to the refs. Hopefully someone can narrow it down from there. Also the refs don't like him. Hmm, I wonder who it could be?

Actually, upon further review, Im not sure the same "Player X" wrote all of these columns. It looks like ESPN may have gotten a different player to write these each of the last two seasons. The latest of the Player X columns (the one in the original post, about KG) says it is Player X's 4th column, but I have found more than 4 columns from NBA Player X. And this appears to be the only one that states the number of columns that person has written for ESPN. So figuring this out may be impossible.
